The original popper was a glass vial with a metal mesh. Apparently it still exists. So, in the US, there's this Lilly Cyanide Antidote Kit made by Eli Lilly.
It comes with:
10 ml ampoule of 3% sodium nitrite solution and
50 ml bottle of 25% sodium thiosulfate.
But here's the thing: it has these little glass 'pearls' filled with amyl nitrite—you're supposed to break them open to inhale the drug. Troikaa Pharmaceuticals (India) makes a similar kit called Thiol

@woodman hell yeah it's a classic. Especially the episode " An exercise in fatality" It was one of the few rare occasions where Columbo got angry and his victory over the overly arrogant and pompous narcissistic killer was flawless, talk about take someone apart, columbos opponent was devastated and shattered as columbo broke it down for him - RIP Peter Falk - A true and well respected gent and a legend of the times

I have an old box of ammonia smelling salt ampoules just like amyl used to be packed. Would love to try to reproduce that. Seems like the antidote to product decomposition.
Sharp assessment of that Columbo episode. My favorites are when he develops a friendly and cordial relationship with the killer, like with Donald Pleasence in "Any Old Port in a Storm". And cruise ships all have modern infirmaries, for patients who need first aid, dialysis, etc.. If I ever went on a cruise, I'd probably spend most of my time touring the guts.

Never in my wildest dreams would I ever imagine a discussion of Columbo episodes on a popper enthusiast webpage.
