Pro-tip: Always keep a couple of caps from your favorite poppers in the back of a drawer. . . You never know when you are going to drop one on the floor and have it disappear into the universe!

Greetings! your observations are noted. Those pesky popper caps often fall down the side of the sofa! lost forever!

It is a miracle they even survive; since PWD stopped making poppers the quality of the labels, bottles, and the caps is POOR. They crack and are as brittle as Donald Trump's hairspray wig.

Good luck to all Americans in Howdy Doody Land. The level of political debate is AWESOME!

They crack because volatile nitrites expand when the temperature changes, if the bottle is overfilled, yes there should be a gap! pressure will build up, and the nitrite will try to escape from brown bottle captivity! You will sometimes see that they seep under the plastic wrapper too. If you see this and the popper smells rancid, sharper than normal, it is because it has been oxidized a bit. Stuff happens, chemistry can be a disobedient bitch. Poppers manufacturers need to carefully measure the amounts to allow for expansion please. Obviously the expansion will depend on the formula too, my guess is that butyl, isobutyl, will expand more than amyl, but hey! what do I know. It's all about the molecular density, yeah? Probably not :-)

I also believe the smaller caps on the bottles they use now don't seal as well as the slightly larger caps that were used on the 10ml bottles back in the day. I wish there was a manufacturer who would seal bottles with wax or something. Yes, it would probably make the bottles a pain to open, but I don't know about you, but I'd gladly live with that inconvenience if it insured a better product.
