Hi all, 50 year old Bisexual man here that has just discovered poppers last year (I know slow). Have experienced many different types supplied by different partners. Some work some dont. Some cause better effects than others but never remember the brand names.
So decided to buy some myself and chose different formulas from Amyl to Pentyl and another one i cant remember. All of them either was not as effective as i remember.
HOWEVER i bought Jungle Juice Platinum New Formula that is a combination of pentyl and butyl nitrites. WOW the hit is fantastic and the orgasim is great and the bottle stays good for months.
Could all the experts out there please advise if this is the right formula to look for and if there is other brands that offer the same affect. Thanks

All the common nitrites, isopropyl, isobutyl, butyl and amyl will be plenty potent and low on toxic unpleasant effects IF and only WHEN they are pure enough and possess no noticeable toxic enhancing impurities.

IPN, IBN and BN will give very noticeable and wretched side effects when they contain toxic impurities. You will be lucky if they are merely weak. Having your blood pressure plunge to new lows is NOT...I repeat...is NOT a pleasant effect!!!

Just dont try the cig method with it u might fall out. Also. If amyl nd pent dont cut it. Tht means ur gonna wanna go with isobutyl bc isobutyl has the strongest rush out of any kind. @Wenis....I just made 20 mls of IPN 3 days ago....and the two 10mls bottles have preserved well....aromatic, pleasant odor...neither sweet nor bitter....ever so slightly citrus like. Have had no toxic effects either....just a very strong ass relax and feel good all over sensation lasting about 10 to 15 seconds before it starts to wane. Nipples are extra sensitive too at that point. It's fun.

I haven't made any amyl recently because my amyl alcohol had degraded too much once the bottle was nearly empty. All brews then came out bitter and weak.

Butyl nitrite is notoriously hard to make pure enough. It could be a combination of the amount of water used and the purity of the butanol. Butyl nitrite is easy to identify from it's odor. When opened in a room for a short period, it gives the room an very VERY distinctive odor of a locker room that has just been deodorized. The 95% BN I bought from Sigma Aldrich smelled like this and when it degraded and lost its potency, it smelled like sweet bananas....as a degradation product.

They are all potent when pure and fresh....Amyl evaporates more slowly, so it will last longer during frequent use. Normal amyl nitrite, not isoamyl nitrite, seems to maintain a better odor than isoamyl nitrite, when bottled and once opened.

lasting 10 to 15 seconds? ridiculously weak product; I've characterized every nitrite up to n-Propyl, and a FULLY nitrosated isopropyl will put a person over the moon for almost 120 seconds.

The simple fact is you are and have been doing it wrong (on purpose) for decades. you want to be the emporer of nitrites, dictating what is appropriate for all.

Of course, given your enlarged spleen acting up when ever you get involved with something that is strong and lasts, it's no wonder you have settled on making in small amounts and choking the reaction by not providing enough of the reaction medium.

again, your own words say "water increases toxic effects"

the reality is "water allows the reaction to happen in the first place; using less just makes the product weaker"

Amyl/Pentyl is probably not what you are looking for. if you are trying to re-discover something that worked for you before and was OVER-THE-COUNTER, it was likely Butyl nitrite.

Also depending on your origin country, IsoButyl was around for a few years; it's technically stronger than Butyl, but most manufacturers continued to use Butyl even though the label said isoButyl. I personally prefer sec-Butyl to Isobutyl. YMMV.

at 50 years, your maximum heart rate has dropped significantly since you were in your twenties (about 220BPM minus your age), so a more reactive nitrite will stress your heart more as it tries to keep you oxygenated. That's not a fun experience. There's a sweet spot in there, and for MOST it's between n-Butyl and tert-Butyl.

A lot of these questions are already answered in our wiki. It's mostly aimed at makers, but contains useful information for those that are curious.

Way back in the beginning, before I took on the challenge of halting decomposition, I didn't like isobutyl because the aroma got very caustic very quickly after opening. Butyl didn't do that, but isobutyl did. That have me a negative experience for isobutyl.
Sec-butyl s aroma doesn't become noxious, and is very close in reactivity to isobutyl.
From a maker's perspective, they are both similar, as are all the alcohols, it's a very simple process that's usually taught to second year chemistry students.

These students have been doing quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis for about 1 1/2 yrs (boring, but you pick up good skills). Now they will learn esterification, reversible reactions, LeChatellier's principle, and start venturing into ice baths and pressure and vacuum.

Most importantly for popper making, they'll learn the limited range of leChatellier's principle, and delve into how variations of pressure and temperature make more drastic corrections to increase purity.

Not all esters are poppers. In that example, students usually are making esters like acetates (community used as flavoring ingredients in foods).

Undoubtedly, though, teachers assistants are running the labs instead of the professors themselves, and they will usually casually bring up the topic of salty nitrites and turn a blind eye towards any students that might want to explore for themselves (After their legitimate lab work is complete, of course)

There are several ways to automate the process for manufacturing. DIY people typical use a liquid phase batch process: reactants and reagent are interested to a reaction vessel, the reaction occurs, the yield is harvested.

Batch processing has downsides. Continuous flow is usually the way industry works these days. There is NO batch size, just a flow of ingredients into reaction chambers(typically thousands of micro channels in parallel) that output a continuous stream of product and waste.

Anyone who makes nitrites based on Tom's Pdf. file will be making toxic poppers.

If you see a BIG YELLOW DOT, experience BLACK OUTS, and get bouts of LOW LOW blood pressure and excessive fatigue.....These are all signs of toxic effects that Tom's methods will produce.

How do I know? Because I have tried all that Tom has stated in his file OVER and OVER again and the results are almost always the same, EXCEPT for the amyl group. It is the only group that won't be as apt to contain high toxicity impurities, despite how it's made or whether or not the alcohol is pure enough. When amyl alcohol degrades, it produces a bitter, weak popper....not one that gives strong toxic effects as descrribed above.
