Hi all, I know there's probably the answer somewhere in the forum but, just thought I'd ask any UK guys know of anywhere selling isobutyl poppers or if you know of a legit shop willing to ship? I had a source (Chat Noir from amsterdam-poppers dot com) but thry seemed to have withdrawn the product. Shame really as it was fabulous. Many US shops have also stopped shipping to the UK, so frustrating. Thanks in advance for any pointers, cheers.

As far as I can tell, there is nothing wrong with IPN, which is the legal popper in the UK. Isobutyl, butyl and isopropyl nitrite are very very likely to contain toxic enhancing impurities when they are not made well OR if they are not fresh. For instance, after years of making poppers, I have found that merely adding too much water to the reaction pot, when making IPN from 70% rubbing alcohol, the IPN will become toxic garbage with a much less aromatic and pleasant odor. No water should be added. The muriatic acid and 70%IPA already have sufficient water.

They are all mixtures of various isomers of butanol.

Tert is stronger than sec; it has a higher vapor pressure and delivers more nitric oxide (the active ingredient)

Tert has a very 'bracing' aroma a bit like the taste of a peppermint patty. That's a rough analogy, but it's hard to explain bracing.

Tert is about the safest extremely strong nitrite; still, unless you are in your twenties, any more than a few% as a 'top coat' will be too strong and will probably drop you on your ass.

The data was collected from our volunteers and then averaged. None of us hold our breath.

When you hold your breath, thinking that will allow more time for absorption, a few things are happening.

First, your body thinks there's a problem (maybe you are drowning, maybe there's toxic fumes around, whatever)

Your body goes into crises mode, and metabolism slows down. Heart rate increases (trying to drop CO2 levels in the blood) and you start producing more adrenaline (preparing to try to escape the local threat).
The reduced oxygen and increased adrenaline trick your body into feeling more 'high' but in reality, since lungs exchange gases with atmosphere by a pressure differential (and there's no differential when you hold your breath) there is NO increased absorption of the popper.

Instead, we breathe through a tube that has an inner lining of cotton pads (the premium oval size, for removing makeup).

The inner diameter of the tube is roughly the same diameter of your airway, so you don't have to suck through a tiny orifice, just regular breaths.

Two premium ovals will hold about 18 ml before the liquid runs out of the pipe. That lasts us quite a while; sometimes a refill of the tube (another 8ml or so) keeps things going for 3 hrs or so.

NUBLU is an ongoing project that has been trying to get started for a few years. Intended mostly to provide service to our Popper makers group as a sample of the type of quality that can be had from DIY prep.

Back when artisanal stole our ideas, most of the interest disappeared (PopChef2 was running the show back then) in getting the site online. When I took over the helm from chef, I slowly tried to get it online, but I'm in no hurry, and other vendors have started doing blends and offering levels of product strength instead of one size fits all, so I'm not very motivated.

It would be a small volume, 'period of concept' type of thing anyway, trying to encourage people to do their toe into DIY

The N stands for normal. In everyday life the word normal usually means typical or natural. In many sciences it simply means perpendicular.

In Chemistry, a normal molecule is a straight chain of ions. In the case of alkyl nitrites that means the methyl groups are all normal (perpendicular) to the plane of the entire molecule. The wiki has images of various possible combinations of ions (isomers).

The first isomer of butanol is isobutanol (same ions arranged differently). The secondary isomer is sec-butyl, the third tert-butanol.
The way these isomers branch out differently than the straight chain molecule can create 'steric inhibition' effects. Simplified, this means that branches might interfere with binding sites due to geometry.
With butanol, none of the branches are interfering with the O-N-O bonds that let a popper deliver NO (nitric oxide) to the bloodstream. Some isomers DO inhibit that binding site (isopropyl being the worst with regard to steric inhibition)

The isomers usually do have different vapor pressure, and the higher the vapor pressure, the quicker the evaporation (asking with more intense effect).

The Professor ok cool thanks im learning so much. I think i might start a word doc just for myself and collect all the differnt info i have on poppers. So my understanding can grow whats the word. But the warming of a bottle b4 a hit like in a jock strap. I put my popper bottle between my balls nd inner thigh 4 a little bit last night which seemed to give me a better hit. So ig if u warm it a little then it helps the vapor but 2 much it degrades it. So u wuldnt want to store ur poppers in a room temp of like 75 right? Best 2 keep it at like 60. And cool dark place.
