The "dot" I see when using poppers is an oval. You?

First, let me make it clear that I am talking about isobutyl. I don't think I've ever used isopropyl (nor am I seeking to).

"Everyone" talks about seeing a "dot" -- yellow in my case -- after a fair amount or intensity of use. Usually it is described as fleeting, lasting seconds to maybe ten minutes.

My post concerns the fact that it is "always" described as a dot or a spot. But what I personally see is a sideways oval shape, kind of like an egg on its side.

I'm wondering if people are just being loose with their description, or if I'm actually seeing something different.

BTW, I saw the usual fleeting oval last night when popperbating. But for the first time, this morning when I woke up I saw a blue oval (exactly that same shape) on the white ceiling. I noticed that it was a little darker and better defined in my right eye than the left. It's not like it's really interfered with anything today; in fact I'd only see it occasionally (usually when closing my eyes, or blinking and opening them to a light surface), and it has been gradually fading. Not nearly as bothersome as my vitreous floaters (that are un-related to poppers). Still, I wonder if this longer-lasting presence has any significance. I did notice that as I was mid-session last night, it was harder to see my already-difficult to-see (small font, kind of far, aging eyes) my laptop's porn file lists ...they looked a bit more glaring and out of focused.

But again, my main reason for posting is to see whether people are actually seeing sideways ovals even though they are describing them as spots or dots. If not maybe it has something to do with my being nearsighted, which elongates the shape of the eyeball including the retina? That said a large portion of popper users must be nearsighted...

I use normal amyl nitrite exclusively now and I NEVER see dots. I never experience any side effects as I did with all the other common nitrites. I use amyl nitrite almost every day.

Those dots mean your blood pressure is getting fucked up too much. Amyl nitrite doesn't do that to me.

Thanks for that feedback. I've wanted to try Amyl for awhile. If you don't mind sharing this info, can you tell me where order it from (or buy it in person), and which brand you get. Since I'm in the US I'd probably have have to order from overseas. I know I've heard a lot of good things about poppers-aroma.eu, but also a number of cautionary notes about them and some of the brands they carry. For that matter I've head mixed reviews of amyl itself in terms of the "desired" effects vs isobutyl. And I've seen a few mentions of visual "dots" using amyl, though really only a handful.

BTW, I could have better described the "dot" as the shape of an American football rather than an egg (which is of course narrower at one than the offer). When I invariably, but briefly, see a bright yellow spot during fairly heavy/intense isobutyl usage, that shape is very clear. It actually freaks me out a bit that right I can still see what I *believe* is the same thing 36 hours now, but as a more-poorly-defined, shadowy spot...again a little darker in the right eye. But most of the time I actually have to look for it, so I'm beginning to wonder if perhaps I've actually had it for a long time. And that it wasn't picked up on recent retinal examinations ("the retina is very healthy";-) because -- per the medical journal articles I Googled -- when present it is only visible with a specific kind of scope, as a small yellow ellipse on the fovea (a small area in the central retina).

Don't know how I unintentionally managed to make a right parenthesis show up as an emoticon...

@Haney...it's impossible to critique any OTC popper properly because nobody knows the exact chemical composition. I do know that isoamyl nitrite isn't as good normal amyl or normal pentyl nitrite. I know because I have made both and bought isoamyl nitrite several times from reputable chemical dealers. If it doesn't come degraded smelling funky, it will soon turn into funk. Even still, none of the isoamyl or normal amyl nitrite has ever given me side effects that made me want to dump them. BUT, I realize some people have to try stuff for themselves. I just want them to know up front what my experiences have been. There are some USA suppliers who say they make amyl and there are some European ones. Locker Room makes them, but I can't vouch for their quality.

Thanks for the explanation.

"If it doesn't come degraded smelling funky, it will soon turn into funk."

Would that statement also apply to isobutyl nitrite from reputable chemical dealers?

I get Isobutyl from a store local to me and I do get the sort of hazy spot. I freaked out the first time I got *really* high on it because I thought it looked like an eye. Granted, I'm already prehypertensive, so if it's a blood pressure thing then that makes sense. Then too, it might just vary person to person, or I might just be getting lower quality stuff because I'm not ordering online - I live with nosy roommates, so I don't generally like having to explain away packages that I get.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who sees the dot! I usually focus on it when things are pretty intense. It's kind of amazing!
