After getting ripped off by Poppers Aromas on my 4th purchase from them, I decided to make amyl nitrite again. Here's what I did and my preliminary results:

German Patent US7314948 filed in 2008 in the USA.

I tried to follow the above patent best I could based on my understanding of what they had done. Molar ratios of the alcohol/acid/SN are 1.0-1.01-1.20. This ratio means there's a slight excess of acid and up to a 20% excess of SN. I used 32% muriatic from Menards. 10.17 moles per liter, which means there's about 1 mole of 32% HCl per 100 mls. Amyl alcohol is 88 grams per mole and SN is 69 grams per mole. I weighed these two to get the amount I needed. I wanted to end up with a 20ml brew, so I took 1/10th of all the molar amounts and then doubled these amounts.

So.....1/10 mole of one pentanol = 8.8 grams x 2 = about 18
1/10 mole of muriatic = about 10mls x 2 = about 20 mls plus a very slight excess
1/10 mole of SN = 6.9 grams x 2 = about 14 plus up to a 20% excess. I used 14.5 grams food grade SN.

So.....18 grams one pentanol, 21 mls muriatic and 14.5 grams Duda SN.

I chilled and premixed the alcohol and acid, adding both slowly and simultaneously to a glass mixing container. I used a 10ml pipette with rubber top to measure my acid.

I used a 40% solution of SN, which is 4 parts SN to 6 parts water. Since I needed 14.5 grams SN total, I calculated I needed about 24 mls water, since 16grams SN into 24ml/grams water is a 40% solution.

Per the patent, after chilling all the reagents, I added the SN solution, dripping slowly, to the acid/alcohol mixture. I used a stir bar to help mix, plus I gently swirled the contents of the glass jar periodically. I did this outside where the temps were under 45F. I used no ice bath.

Mixing time to harvest of yield was about 15 minutes....about 20mls yield.

Neutralized with baking soda and brine/salt. Dried and bottled on Kcarb.

Scent...mild and very slightly fruity. No cough reflex. Hints of ginger ale. No acid. No unpleasant hints of anything.

Effects: very controlled, no head crushing mind blowiing rush....no side effects, no uncomfortable flushing and heating, no head ache, very ample ass relax and increased nipple sensitivity. Both these latter effects seem to build/increase with repeat hits. It seems very controlled. All effects recede quickly after the last hit and there's no lingering effects, bad or good.

So....a couple conclusions here: I used old Duda SN and old Muriactic from Menards and I still got a good popper....so I've ruled those out as being suspect for bad brews. My TCI one pentanol was fresh and new and so I can't say for sure if this made a difference or not. That said, it is either the fresh alcohol(unopened, factory sealed) and/or the new mixing amounts/strategies that gave me what seems like a very good amyl nitrite. I don't have a gas analyzer so I can't say what purity my AN is....only to say it smells good and has good effects.

You can use muriatic?? I thought it had to be pure HCL.

Nitritespecialist said on Sat, 18 Dec 2021 at 18:30...

@Bolt....the highest purity is around 37%...the impurity is water. The patent mentions the strength of the acid and there can be a range.....what's imperative is the total molar amount used. That's why it's important to know that roughly 100 mls of 32% HCl is about one mole. Likely, most sources of the various strengths of HCl will deviate a little from what the label states.

It's been over 12 hours since I made the amyl nitrite and I've just tested it for at least 30 minutes, taking lots of whiffs, big and small.

Odor is very very good. Aromatic, dry and slightly fruity...like smelling ginger ale or a similar pop. It's thoroughly pleasant with no unpleasant odors present.

Effects: Good ass relax....with a strange sort of opposing effects.....as if the prostate is clamping down/contracting more and more as the rectal muscles are relaxing more and more. Good nipple sensitivity. Good positive energy....like adrenaline, increased breathing and after awhile it almost seems exhausting but very fun. Effects build over time.....meaning eventually each hit seems more potent than the first hits. No post hit blues.

This one home brew of n-amyl nitrite is far better than any of the LRM's poppers I bought. It smells a lot better and effects are better.

Soooooooo......sorry LRM and Poppers Aromas....I can no longer recommend either.

For anyone wanting to make AN at home.....I can only recommend doing so if you are someone who wants to be careful enough to measure accurately and also be willing to obtain at least the alcohol from a reputable chemical maker, like TCI or Sigma.

There is much variation possible in brews depending on mixing strategies, ratios/amounts of reagents, temperatures and quality of reagents, especially the alcohol.

It also is absolutely imperative to vent the fumes from the reaction to the outside, or perform the synthesis outside. Nitrogen dioxide is an orange toxic gas that will form, to some extent during the reaction.

Just took another whiff....smells more like 7UP than Ginger Ale.

I can’t get isobutyl sent to CA. Is it legal in the US?

Nitritespecialist said on Sat, 18 Dec 2021 at 23:07...

Just spent a good 30 minutes hitting the amyl hard. I can see how FISTERS might like it since it seems to stimulate the cowper's gland to drip and create an urgency to cum, so anything thick(fist) stuffed into the ass, would be putting a lot of pressure on these glands.

I did notice my fingernails had turned a little blue, but at no time did my blood pressure get out of whack and make me feel unwell. As before, subsequent hits seem more potent than the first hits and the effects linger longer.

@Bolt...isobutyl, butyl and isopropyl nitrite are not illegal to sell in the USA, provided they have a legit purpose other than recreation. Amyl nitrite, however, is still considered a drug and is illegal to sell any version of it unless there's a doctor involved.

The alcohols from which they are made are relatively easy to obtain. I just paid $56 delivered for 500 mls of TCI alcohol.

Tell me more - which alcohol did you buy from TCI? I have tried making them several times and never get anything that works. I figured it was because I was using the wrong alcohol. I tried N Butyl and a few others but never isobutyl which is the only kind of poppers that work for me - English White Label, Bolt, and Pig Sweat.

To clarify, I can’t get isobutyl alcohol sent to CA

SN = Sulfur Nitride????

Nitritespecialist said on Sun, 19 Dec 2021 at 14:27...

@Bolt....I bought one Pentanol from TCI via my dealer. I have purchased TCI butanol as well. But I didn't buy that again because too often I get side effects from home brew butyl, for reasons that aren't entirely clear to me.

The German patent adds the SN solution to the acid/alcohol mixture and that's been a game changer for me.

N-amyl nitrite smells good and it builds with each whiff, so that it seems stronger and stronger with subsequent hits.

Thanks! I’m shocked that you didn’t use an ice bath and it worked! Do you have any advice on the dropping funnel? Mine always sticks and it’s hard to control the rate properly.

Nitritespecialist said on Sun, 19 Dec 2021 at 23:27...

@Bolt...I didn't use an ice bath for several reasons.....one...I had already chilled all my reagents in the freezer...second...it was below 45F outside where I did the reaction....third...the patent shows examples where they changed the temps from -10C to 10C and even more I think....and claimed this didn't make a huge difference...all their brews were around 99% pure.
