I've been making and using poppers for over 12 years. Sometimes, I hit the bottle 4 to 6 times a day....no long sessions...just 5 to 10 minutes tops. Sometimes I will go a few weeks without taking a hit. I don't like any other drugs, cigs, dope or drink. I have never been addicted to that stuff and don't do them. The worst side effects from poppers are anemia and low blood pressure, which is widely known. How they impact the immune system is not definitively known, either in the short term or long term. They can kill rodents in high enough concentrations given for long enough, but what can't? Pure O2 can kill too. It's more important to know what reasonable and likely doses of poppers are doing to impact human health. I NEVER use poppers to achieve orgasm. In fact, I like poppers because I can easily refrain from orgasm and therefore extend the fun. Poppers kill my erection.

There is no doubt that some people can have far worse genetic/environmental predispositions to any number of drugs and that drugs/chemicals do NOT effect all human uniformly, in terms of both good and bad effects.

There needs to be a balance, enumerating all the major pros and cons of every issue, every drug, so that all people can make a well informed personal decision. To focus on a fringe case or an extreme rarity is not very helpful. The general rules are what matters most and offers the most help to the most people.
