Poppers are not rated for human consumption. The "safest" popper is normal amyl nitrite because it has the least side effects. But it's not legal except by script. Some places in Europe and perhaps Locker Room JJ out of Canada make it. It could be isoamyl/isopentyl nitrite, which is the second best popper. No poppers are USP grade, which means you are going to get various impurities which could easily cause unwanted side effects. Poppers acquire more impurities as they age....not very stable. And so they could develop worse side effects over time.

Rick said on Fri, 25 Dec 2020 at 22:22...

Ok thanks it stated liquid gold was amyl nitrite as I read it was the saffest so I went for that option

Rick said on Fri, 25 Dec 2020 at 22:33...

Just checked my order and it was isoamyl so wont be using it again

Jako said on Sat, 26 Dec 2020 at 10:03...

Rick, I'd have a closer look at that bottle if I were you !
'Liquid Gold' is usually Iso Propyl Nitrite.
If it is, no wonder your eyes are sore. It causes central vision loss i you persist in sniffing the crap, and its well documented as 'Poppers Maculopathy'.
Lay off and save your eyesight.

Rick said on Sat, 26 Dec 2020 at 10:37...

Cheers jako and feeling alot better this morning and I threw it out lol I got it from thepoppershop and it's the liquid gold one they sell

Rick said on Sat, 26 Dec 2020 at 12:19...

@jako eyes not sore today just tension headache very mild stress related but could you tell me a good product to use and is safe with eyes please

Jako said on Sat, 26 Dec 2020 at 13:41...

Rick: Just avoid all UK poppers because they're all Iso Propyl Nitrite. Nothing else is legal in the UK.

Rick said on Sat, 26 Dec 2020 at 13:56...

Jako ok mate will do and won't ever use it again
Have u had used the stuff I used before and what were your effects using this awful stuff

Jako said on Sat, 26 Dec 2020 at 14:13...

I've been using Liquid Gold since 1994, it was great stuff before 2007 ! A strong pulse in the head followed by rapid heartbeat and then a smooth unforgettable warm long lasting rush to the head.
When they changed the formula from Iso Butyl to Iso propyl bad things started to happen to me i.e. Vision loss, headaches, breathlessness (sometimes for days). I've learnt the hard way....

Rick said on Sat, 26 Dec 2020 at 14:38...

Jako are u in the UK mate and wow sounds awful , was it total vison loss or how can you describe your vision and how long did that last
My soreness has gone no visual impairment but like you state longer use then It would I suppose as I only sniffed it ever so lightly on a rag , immediately had headache and sore dry eyes for couple.days
No hazy or black spots or anything and it been 4 days since i last used it ,
Sorry for all the questions but this has really set off my anxiety suppose just looking for reassurance

Jako said on Sat, 26 Dec 2020 at 14:57...

Rick, yes I'm in the UK. Sounds like you've stopped in time !
I've had blurred vision for years, the sore eyes after a session is a big warning it destroying the cells in the macular part of the eyes.
Dent worry I was a heavy user, you sound sensible and won't damage yourself further.

Rick said on Sat, 26 Dec 2020 at 15:03...

Jako yh soon as I felt the sore eyes I thought wtf this doesn't feel good and even if wasn't any life changing effects I said to myself sod that I don't mind headache as that's explainable but the eyes worried me immensely so I thought I'd look for some advice and thank you jako massive weight off my mind , and much appreciated, so can I ask what product do u use or have you stopped it all

Jako said on Sat, 26 Dec 2020 at 15:17...

Very occasionally I buy from France, poppersaromas eu. Amyl formulas only, not pentyl. They're mild poppers but are pleasant and don't wreck your eyesight.

Rick said on Sat, 26 Dec 2020 at 21:55...

Ok jako , is the stuff UK sell ok for low use or would u not bother at all

Jako said on Sun, 27 Dec 2020 at 09:48...

If you sniff any UK stuff for longer than 15 minutes (Iso propyl nitrite) bad effects kick in. The blood pressure drops first

Again the same misinformation is written here about alkyl nitrites.

In practice the is no difference between alkyl nitrites. All alkyl nitrites have same effects.

Poppers is not pure alkyl nitrite. It is a preparation in which there are other chemicals too. For example if the bottle contains only isopropyl nitrite the liquid would boil in your hand or pocket, and have you noticed?

And why should poppers use for hours? Some years ago all poppers was so strong that you could get three sniffs and next time after two days. And you always got a headache which you should get because it is how the poppers work.

What the hell are you babbling about?

Rick said on Sun, 27 Dec 2020 at 14:18...

Ok jako cheers I won't bother and I didn't even do 5 mins let alone 15 lol

Nitritespecialist said on Sun, 27 Dec 2020 at 17:02...

@R...sorry but you are the one spreading misinformation. Much of the nitrite "scholarly" literature will say that all the common nitrites used for poppers have "similar" effects, BUT that doesn't mean much if it doesn't come from people who have tried good samples of all the various ones. The scientific authorities are NOT whiffing poppers so they can then compare and contrast effects. There were studies done on users going back to the 1960s and early 80s in the USA. Amyl nitrite was much more available then and it was preferred because it was deemed to seem more potent and because it had less side effects compared to butyl nitrite. This is reported on a gov.com site if you care to read 122 pages. Now, from someone who has made lots of different poppers for the last 10 years, I can tell you there are VERY VERY important differences between different kinds of poppers. Here it is in a nutshell: methyl nitrite will knock you on your butt in 2 minutes and you will feel like shit for hours. Isopropyl nitrite will knock you on your butt in 10-15 minutes and make you feel like shit for 12-24 hours. N-butyl/isobutyl will knock you on your butt in 15 to 30 minutes and you will feel like shit the rest of the day. Amyl(pentyl) slash isoamyl(isopentyl) will NOT knock you on your butt even if you are whiffing it frequently throughout the day. There will be little recovery needed. Yes they all have similar effects physiologically, BUT there are VERY VERY significant differences the authorities DO NOT want you to know because they don't want gay guys demanding to have USP grade n-amyl nitrite....by far the safest and the most fun.

Nitrite specialist: Thanks for that accurate and detailed info.

Rick said on Sun, 27 Dec 2020 at 19:28...

Great information thanks and I can clarify that
Isopropyl makes u feel shit wasn't pleasent at all

Commercial Poppers and alkyl nitrites are not the same thing. Poppers is a preparation. And when you are using different alkyl nitrites you can use a different amount.

Of course different poppers are different: everyone prepares the product as wish. The key component is the filter.

The old amyl nitrite poppers was not prepared of pure pentyl nitrite. It was alkyl nitrite mixture with 70% isopentyl nitrite and 30% other alkyl nitrites mainly isopropyl nitrite.

The way the alkyl nitrites are working in your body are always causing headache.

Jako said on Sun, 27 Dec 2020 at 21:15...

r:
Really? if the mixture use to be mainly iso propyl nitrite why wasn't there any reports of eye damage before 2007?

Jako said on Sun, 27 Dec 2020 at 21:53...

Following changes to legislation in 2006, poppers' main ingredient, isobutyl nitrite, was substituted for isopropyl nitrite. Since then, there have been several reports of a new form of visual loss termed poppers maculopathy.

I've been using poppers for 11 years and have never had a raging headache as a symptom of a side effect....but I have had low enough blood pressure and anemia that I feel like total shit. The stronger nitrites impact blood pressure harder and for longer. NOBODY can function when there blood pressure drops too low. It's a physiological fact. BUT you can still function with a headache...Side effects can also be caused by impurities...such as nitric acid, which is always going to be a possible contaminant....especially if the sodium nitrite was low grade or degraded.

Rick said on Tue, 29 Dec 2020 at 10:47...

I'm not sure if this is a side effect but my headache felt electric shock type down the sides of my head and frontal nose area again I'm not sure how old the bottle was as my mate got it off line and it was pretty empty wether in that matters but I had headac he for over a week

Nitritespecialist said on Tue, 29 Dec 2020 at 15:01...

Rick, someone would have to know a lot about your medical history to even venture a guess what you may be experiencing. From my personal experience, the worst side effects from poppers are low blood pressure and anemia. Impurities can make these side effects worse, but I don't know the extent to which they can. Nitrites markedly relax the blood vessel walls, lowering blood pressure, which causes the heart to pump faster. If there is a weakness in a person's blood vessel walls somewhere in the brain/body, I imagine the popper's effect could trigger something more dangerous. Also, if someone has clots somewhere in their body, the rapid relaxation and constriction of blood vessels might dislodge a clot...or a piece of it. This is all conjecture. Nitrites are in theory useful for people with heart disease, because they relax vessels, allowing for greater blood flow to the heart muscle. But dose is not easy to control, which is why nitroglycerin is now used.

Nitrite specialist
Iv been on the phone to doctors today and it seems it's all anxiety stress headaches as I had a panic attack last night and was a bad one
I suffer with health anxiety and been diagnosed about 6 years ago and using this stuff made me panic after and went a week of constant worry and stress and googling shit regarding headaches and not the best thing to do
But I'm gonna stay well clear from this as it only increases my anxiety and I can't be doing with that

Wowza said on Wed, 30 Dec 2020 at 10:33...

Hey Rick! Two things:

1. You need to get help with anxiety issues. This is very common, but most folks just live with...don't. There are really goods meds, or even cognitive therapy that can help you.

2. "felt electric shock type down the sides of my head and frontal nose area"

Dude, that is the inner ear canal getting agitated, it is not a big deal, but that is what it is (my guess). Maybe lay off the poppers if you have sensitivity there.

I conjecture that 1. Anxiety + 2. ear canal agitation (can be painful) is causing an anxiety attack. BTW: your anxiety will be actively searching for a new source to dwell on, that is the nature of this ailment. Last week poppers....next? So get help with that. Be well.

Rick said on Wed, 30 Dec 2020 at 10:55...

@wowza and yh excalty anxiety just wants a reason to grab your attention like I say poppers then it will move on to symptoms just a cycle
I only sniffed poppers once and that was very briefly and I didn't like the feeling and never done again , not for me I'm afraid
and living with anxiety is a lonely place 😭

Rick said on Thu, 31 Dec 2020 at 01:41...

@wowza do u think il be ok on the amyl nitrite with the anxiety of things

Nitritespecialist said on Fri, 1 Jan 2021 at 14:20...

@Rick...I think you better stay away from poppers since you have too much anxiety. They increase heart rate, which is not what an anxious person needs. Amyl nitrite can have a relaxing effect, but the OTC stuff is likely too impure to get optimum effects. One toxic effect I believe is related to impurities is a very uncomfortable warming of the face/head without feeling anything pleasurable. That happens right away. Low blood pressure that's too low takes a bit longer to occur. In my view, amyl nitrite is best for any guys wanting to sit on a big dildo or dick. It works so well for this purpose, that it's like GOD designed it for this. This is why it spread so quickly among the gay population in the 70s and 80s.

Rick said on Fri, 1 Jan 2021 at 15:35...

@nitrite yh OK thanks and yh my anxiety is still high having good days and off days been to see doctor and I have tension headache and my stress and panic is making it worse why on earth I'm panicking so much is beyond me it was 2 weeks ago I tried them
I won't bother with them then Il take your advice
Thanks buddy
