I took a chance and bought the "Brown Bottle" off the Truegether site after seeing the many glowing reviews here. I will give two thumbs up for the speedy service and customer care. However, the product I received was very sub par. Very slight effect and obviously, zero duration off that slight effect.
I am a long time enthusiast having done pops since mid 1980's. Awhile ago (2 years approx.) I posted here about 'Radikal Rush'. That was the closest OTC product I had experienced to the old school "Rush, Bolt, Locker Room", etc... You know, all those amazing 10ml bottles we used to readily buy at adult stores back in the day.
I did email Paul about my disappointment regarding that first "Brown Bottle" sample. I told him I am more adept with these matters and actually understand the reactivity of the various alcohols. The absolute importance of using a USP grade NaNO2 (sod. nitrite), using 37% HCL (not swimming pool acid), and the brew process itself following very strict protocols. All the while trying to maintain a -12 degree temp. mark during production. As well as proper preservation methods to eliminate residual acids and water during manufacture and separation/cleaning/drying phases. I did not accuse these guys of cutting the final alkyl nitrite yield with the "crude" yield by-product as many OTC manufacturers do.
Long story short... I am going back to my own home brews which are akin to old school Amy and Butyl from the good old days. Very pure and I know exactly what went into making and preserving them.
Paul was kind enough to send a replacement bottle, which is currently in transit. I will post a follow up review here after testing this replacement "Brown Bottle" when it arrives. They deserve that gesture for the kindness and prompt attention they have shown. I do realize that during shipment the bottle is rattling around and being exposed to varying temperatures. As you know, Air, Heat and Water exposure kill Alkyl Nitrites. Here is a TIP...store your bottles in the fridge, remove bottles from fridge and allow the bottle to get to ambient room temps before opening for a session. This will prevent water condensation from damaging the contents when you just open a cold bottle straight from the fridge.
Also, if possible, maintain a 30ml bottle for storing your pops in the fridge. Use that 30ml bottle to fill your actual 10ml dosing bottles. You will obviously be exposing the 10ml usage bottles to Air and Temperature fluctuations every time you crack the lid. Maintaining a storage bottle this way allows the 30ml storage bottle to sustain less Air and Temperature exposure.
As for the "Brown Bottle" itself, that first bottle said "Iso Butyl Nitrite" on the bottle label. I have heard others mention the "Brown Bottle" being a mix of Amyl and Butyl? Personally, in knowing the reactivity levels of the various alcohols, I would prefer pure Butyl over Amyl every single time. Butyl is not only stronger. There is also less after effect as Amyl has a tendency to cause lung congestion over continued usage.
To be continued...

Update.... The Bottle arrived today. I tested it and it is an improvement from the 1st bottle. However, it really doesn't take me where I need it. I would describe it as just a hint of taking you to a deep state, but, it never takes you there. The duration coincides with the lack of depth. It is definitely better than most of the OTC stuff out there. But, that really doesn't mean much when you consider how crappy the marketplace is and has been for a decade.
For a newbie they might rave about the Brown Bottle. But, for those with many years experience. Well, give it a try and tell me I'm wrong here. Again the service and professionalism is top notch, the strength is lacking however.

"mix of"
Hi, what does the CAS number say? is there a trend now of mixing up nitrites, just wondering why that is. Back in the day there was butyl, iso-butyl, amyl and pentyl, and cyclo-hexyl (blah!) but you never got mixes as I remember.
TopOfThePops said on Sat, 8 Jun 2019 at 12:56...
There is no CAS number. I mix my own blends with a three way mix of Butyl, Iso Butyl and Tert Butyl. It's interesting to experiment with the alcohols as long as you maintain a (0.5mol) recipe by just dividing the alcohols based on their individual reactivity.

We personally do like the brown bottle from trugether, BC, well, as topofpop stated, compared to the other OTC stuff, it is really the best we could get. (In the US anyway). It does the trick when we need it the most. We are not really capable of "making it " as some can. It does take a lot of time and setup for preparation. And for Paul, Trugether, yes top notch service! We will continue to buy from them, at least until we locate anything else that comes close.

What is OTC?

Over The Counter. Sorry, hate acronyms myself, especially when you have no idea wtf they mean. Actually, wtf is my favorite, I'll admit.

Nice to see a sensible post. Over The Counter implies a physical location. So that would depend on where you are, or are you saying that national distribution as a whole is crappy? I was reading a post today (by Neil) that casts a different light on this altogether; he said (and I am inclined to agree) that poppers create an associative mental interaction and our metabolism adjusts over time. Is this a possibility? You are more informed than most, so maybe you consider it is a factor. How poppers impacts our long-term expectations from sexual activity (rather like over exposure to pornography) is a subject worthy of consideration.
Neil's view was a period of abstinence followed by occasional infrequent use was advisable.

Finger Bob,
This is an interesting question. I always thought the mind was the most erogenous zone. Fantasies we constantly contrive, or re-live for example. They might be a porn film that we return to over and over for the feeling it brings, especially upon first viewing. Perhaps it doesn't have the same impact as it did initially, but, it still excites us. As for Poppers, they seem to override any sense having been dulled to the same experience. Personally speaking, they still excite me as much as the first time I ever tried them. Of course, they must be of a high caliber.

Everyone talks about the "golden age" of poppers when Joe Miller was running PWD. Brown bottle was originally Pac West Rush without a label, not a brand name, & Locker Room Canada made a similar label free poppers called Taiwan Blue. Both were good BTW.

Nostalgic memories of lost youth? or cynical popper barons in cohorts with Big Brother intent on stamping out pleasure? That's the two sides of the debate. The Blue Meanies are out there in Popperland? (see Yellow Submarine 1968)
Any damn thing associated with sex has powerful mental effects. Can an aroma that smells like old socks, or bananas, enter your sexual psyche...you bet.
@PJ PWD created and lobbied for the poppers industry. Without them it would not exist. Put simply it would have closed down in the 1980s when the anti-poppers hysteria / bullshit started.

"People are strange, when you're a stranger...
Face look ugly, when you're alone...
Women seem wicked, when you're unwanted...
Streets are up even when you're down...
When you're strange, faces come out of the rain..
When you're strange...
When you're strange, no one remembers you're name
When you're strange...
When you're strange...
When you're strannnnnnnnnge...
Alright, yeah..."

Strange folks is good folks here in The Ozarks. Y'all don't know poppers till you try the nectar from Ma Clampett. Speak respectful and proper to others, young un, mountain folk have no squirrel stew for Mr Potty Mouth come dinnertime.

$100 for one 10ml bottle does seem a bit much. Is this a normal price?
