Shouldn't put them in the freezer. The best advise is to keep them out of the sunlight and in a cool environment. The minute you open the bottle then nitrites start degrading after contact with O2.

The real "white balls" are pellets that break down into small pieces.These pellets (power pak I think) keep the nitrite fresh after opening. I am not sure you are right about crystals forming.....never saw that.

"crystallization"? Never! Whoever believes this must have had an OD on Poppers to write such a thing. Alcohol has a freezing temperature of -114 °C. The freezing temperature of Poppers is lower than that. The temperature of a freezer is typically -18C. Crystallization is impossible.

Water and oxygen are what make poppers go stale. The pellets are supposed to help by absorbing any water. They are not agitators. Probably they are a useless gimmick. Most Poppers don't have a pellet. Some Poppers without a pellet last, and some do not. Some Poppers with a pellet don't last and some do.

I'm studying for my PhD in chemistry at the University of Oxford and I'm an avid user of poppers. I keep mine in the freezer.

Keeping them in the freezer will slow down the rate of reaction with water, keeping them "fresh" for longer.

It also makes them less volatile (when you heat something up, it evaporates more quickly...) so if you sniff them directly out the freezer, it might not feel as strong. Although, I've found sometimes it does get to be a really, really strong high, but it develops more slowly. I suspect this is to do with rates of reaction with the receptors in the body, because the individual molecules have less energy and are thus less likely to interact as quickly with the body, but I'm not a biochemist, so I don't really know for sure.

The crystallisation people mentioned is probably water in the bottle - this happens with chemicals I keep in the freezer in my lab and is nothing to worry about. In fact, if the water in your bottle is in crystal form (ice) it can't react with the poppers, which is a good thing. Freezing a desiccant doesn't matter at all.

I'm going to try adding desiccant (silica gel) to some poppers and see what happens. I'll report back here when I know more.

the pellet anhydrous magnesium sulphate (epsom salts), there is also a spot of glycerine in there as well (the oily stuff you get when the bottle is almost gone) both remove moisture from the nitrite prolonging its life.

Personally, I think making your own fresh is by far the best solution....costs next to nothing, and is a very easy synthesis with easily obtainable chemicals.

i wash mine after production with bicarb in a saline solution, add the mag sulphate and a little glycerine and bottle.....probably couple of bucks a bottle.

I would like to say that I purchase from a online shop ( best one I have found in the past 10-15 years BTW ) who keep their own "secret" process for their stock. I came to discover this after I mailed them when my initial order arrived and all bottles were "Air Tight" they were neatly wrapped with a "barrier" and then covered with packing tape...! They well, PoppersPronto.com said its the first thing they do when they buy from the factory, which I believe because there was a date written along with the name and note made for top end market on my bottles. I just ordered some poppers, should arrive tomorrow.
I am going to try emptying some liquid out onto a cotton facial pad so I can sniff it from a squeeze bottle (which is a great way to get a real hit without nostril burn!), but before I do that I'll pour some high quality stainless steel ball bearings into the bottle until it is full to the brim with liquid, then close the lid. This should eliminate a lot of the air and moisture that would react with the poppers. I figure about 500 x 5/32 ball bearings would almost fill a whole 30 ml bottle (I have one of these coming!). 20 bearings approx per ml.

put a spray cap on the bottle and spray into a rag or onto cotton wool, the high lasts longer and the poppers spend a limited amount opened as oxygen can do the most damage to them.

Keep pops in the freezer. They are volatile alkyl based compounds and the boiling point is extremely low. They are not hydrophyllic but the glass will lock water vapour from the environment. I have used a wick to aerosolize and it works very well. You don't spill if you measure right. You can keep your finger over the hole for sufflation and very little waste. And you don't spill while sharing. The heat from your hand keeps the vapours liberating from the wick.

I found a chemical company NOT in the USA that I ordered and received 34 ounces or 1kg aluminum sealed bottle of 99.8% pure Amyl Nitrite.
They call it a sample. LOL!!!! Very expensive to!!!!
But it dos not feel as strong as I remember Old formula Rush.
In fact I barely got a rush from it at all. I sniffed enough to give me a headache and slightly burn my nose.
I know the chemical company its real and legitimate. And they DID ship me real 99.8% pure Amyl Nitrite in a sealed aluminum bottle.
Is there a chemical mixture that makes poppers so strong?

I found that the method of saturating a room with Amyl Nitrite never works, and furthermore its just a waist.

The original stuff was Amyl Nitrate not Amyl Nitrite. It is the nitrate that was outlawed it was the nitrate that made poppers so absolutely Wonderful for sex every time you inhaled. Amyl nitrite is no better than isobutyle nitrite or Alkyle nitrite. Your all focused on the wrong chemical.

I like Jungle Juice Black Label - it's the best popper and I can get it over the counter here in Florida. Secondarily, Amsterdam is good. However, they don't stay fresh very long after opening, and the nose burn can be bad. I'm interested in ways of making them last longer and also finding more pure amyl nitrate. It's almost impossible to buy decent poppers online these days. So many lies in false advertising, delivery times, bottle size and what they really are.
Reading an ad is an art form. Most don't list ingredients, certain counties ban certain chemicals, most are knock off bath tub imitations diluted with rubbing alcohol and lastly the FAKE ADS AS CLAIMS OR TESTIMONIALS made to make you think its by Users like us.
They put down competitors with false so called reviews in language of street people so that we have no idea if they are for real or bullshitting us to score an easy buck.
Some don't even have any intent on delivering what you order knowing that we cant really call in law enforcement to go after them.
So what is needed it simply this......A site where no one is trying sell but rather prevent these fake companies from operating by a true time tested online website (perhaps this very one?)
Voice what happened to you, the name of the outfit to stay the hell away from and over time, perhaps a few reviews will surface showing decent places to purchase our poppers from?
Simply rules I suggest is to read all ads carefully and slowly, if they don't list the popper contents Move on. Check sizes of bottles as many deliver 9mm instead of 10mm to make another 10% profit.
Make sure you can track your order..........make sure the country they are operating out of does not outlaw that chemical.
Is there a ban in Canada now in effect?. today is Nov. 11, 2016.

technical stuff is great for usage and storage but lets back up with what we receive....
Making your own home made poppers might be great if someone gave out where the chemicals needed to mix a decent batch can be ordered from and the cost on a small scale to start out?

This is the recipe I have used many times with absolute success.
I freeze the sodium water mixture and sulphuric isopropyl mixes separately then slowly combine them.
It really is that simple.

I agree with everything Chemist said above. The air (O2) and moisture in the air are the main culprits for degradation. With any type of labile or volatile compounds, they should be kept in cool environments (either freezer or fridge). In theory, the colder the better since it'll be less likely to react.

The real way store a compound like this is that after opening, I would purge the headspace of the bottle with an inert gas (argon or nitrogen) and then place the cap back on and wrap that with parafilm to prevent any air/moisture getting in. Most people don't have access to these gases, so I would just try wrapping in parafilm before storing in the freezer.

SO, for me, I refrigerate upon arrival, and then after first opening either back to the fridge or the freezer if you plan to do slightly longer term storage. Also, DO NOT leave the cap off while you are using them. It's a safety hazard for one, but if we're handling compounds that easily degrade, it would make sense to not leave them exposed to the atmosphere for some time.

Totally incorrect. The original stuff WAS amyl nitrite - amyl nitrAte is a totally different chemical. The one that everyone craves is ISOBUTYL NITRITE which is the most effective ...even over amyl nitrite.

The effect of the rush wearing off after a while is not necessarily caused by the poppers getting old and weak. A bottle should last at least a few weeks to a month, of course depending on your sniffing frequency ;-) just like with other substances -alcohol, caffein, nicotine- your body builds up tolerance to the effect quite rapidly, resulting in the loss of ‘potency’. Just take a period of abstinence and the rush will return. Do take it easy after such resting period, build it up😉 enjoy!

I prepared Amyl nitrite.. stored in fridge..
But part of the solution kept at room temperature (30 degrees) as far as it was unopened, it was working fine..
If you open and did not use it immediately, or stored at room temperature with lot of air( oxygen) (head space of the container) and water, poppers will be converted into something else.. a strong prickly stench indicates it is unusable anymore.. better to discard such poppers rather than risking health..

No mate, once it's gone, it's gone. What is left in your bottle is poison that smells nasty and will only induce a headache. Throw it away.

Tip: Keep the smallest possible empty bottles. When you purchase a new bottle. DONT OPEN IT Wrap it in tissue (To draw away potential moisture from the cap and shrinkwrap seal) and put it together with another small empty bottle in the freezer and let them get really cold for an hour. Then without allowing the bottles to warm up too much, open it up and pour a third into the small bottle for use. Replace the cap tightly on the new bottle, rewrap in dry tissue put it back in the freezer.

Allow your smaller usage bottle to warm up in your hand for a bigger hit.

Oxygen in the air and water vapor in the air is the biggest enemy of poppers. Therefore use the smallest possible glass container with a good quality sealing cap.

The less air is locked in the container the better
The less often a container is opened the better
Cold pooper liquid is slower to react with oxygen and water then room temperature liquid.

Crystalised popper is almost certainly expired. If crystalised while cold you could try to syphon off the desired popper liquid so it it no longer contains the water (Ice crystals). If you allow the ice to turn to water you might as well throw the whole lot away.

I am ordering poppers regularly, here in Germany its pretty simple to order it online. There are many websites from Germany and the Netherlands with probably every poppers that exists, and you receive them after 3 to maximum 4 days after purchasing.
My problem is that I live with my wife ,and she knows nothing about my poppers using habit... so I cant just store it in the freezer or fridge, bcs she will find it the same day...
I keep them in my basement, its not too hot in there ,but they don't stay fresh for more than a week, unfortunately.
I would like to try to make my own poppers, as mentioned in messages above...

that way the candle will burn the O2 inside the glass, extinguish itself and the poppers won't react? you would just need to light the candle when you're done.

I keep my pops inside a jacket pocket, hanging up in a cold closet, wrapped in tissue and zip-locked. I use Teflon tape on the cap and haven't had issues. I can keep a couple bottles fresh for three/four months this way; intermittently using a "working bottle" (an empty bottle you pipette a few drops from main popper bottle). That way you keep the main bottle of poppers closed more often.

Throw in a few desiccant beads inside the working bottle, and add a cotton ball inside to close it off.

But the reality is, no matter what method you use, poppers expire. You'll know when the smell is more noticeable than anything else lol.

TIP: If you need to throw away old pops, take the bottle outside (away from pets and whatever), and let the remaining liquid air out. Then throw away, or wash/dry and keep the bottle. Also, do yourself a favor and buy a stainless steel pipette. Don't use those plastic disposables as they tend to leak.
