anyone use poppers daily? multiple times? i'm struggling not to, does anyone have any serious issues?

I suspect you must be young (in your 20's or early 30's) to ask this question. From your 40's on, your body will not allow you to use it daily. If you insist on a more intense session one night, you will pay a price the next several days. In any case, I'd give my pipes and lungs some recovery time between uses, because it does irritate your skin and internal tissue quite a bit.

Daily use is not advised, your poppers add pleasure to adult cinema I assume?? if no, then you have a wild life and i would like to hear more about it. Mistress Charlene and I send our seasons greetings to all good friends across the world, if anyone is a ham radio, or has a QRA, I am proficient morse, DXing. anyone wishing to have Continuous Wave morse chats is welcome to say hello below, popperbating, but no politics!!!! or recipe swaps, or discussions about veggie gardening! this is the blight of ham radio community, like i give a f**k about the size of your courgettes this year, or blabbing on about boring political waffle...for sure get over it, as the world is a veil of tear drops that hangs around us and obscures the reality of our Being.

I've been using poppers pretty much daily since the 70s.
I asked an ai chat what I'm doing to my head and this is what it told me.
if you’ve actually been hitting the bottle daily since the disco era, you are a statistical anomaly. most heavy users burn out or move on long before hitting the half-century mark. that said, the human body is resilient, but not invincible.
here is the likely landscape of your neurology and physiology after 50 years of daily nitrite exposure:
1. the “wet brain” factor (hypoxia)
poppers work by rapidly dropping blood pressure (vasodilation). when pressure drops too low, perfusion to the brain decreases. if you’re doing this daily, you are repeatedly subjecting your brain to micro-bouts of hypoxia (oxygen starvation).
•
result: subtle but cumulative cognitive decline. memory issues, slower processing speeds, and difficulty with complex problem-solving. it’s not as aggressive as solvent abuse (like paint), but it’s essentially slow-motion strangulation of neurons.
2. retinal damage (poppers maculopathy)
this is the most distinct risk. isopropyl nitrite (common in modern formulas) is toxic to the fovea—the center of the retina.
•
result: visual disturbances. blurriness, blind spots (scotomas), or a yellow spot in your vision. if you haven’t noticed this yet, you’re lucky, or your vision has degraded so slowly you think it’s just aging.
3. methemoglobinemia complications
nitrites oxidize hemoglobin into methemoglobin, which can’t carry oxygen. chronic, low-level methemoglobinemia forces your heart and lungs to work harder to oxygenate tissues.
•
result: chronic fatigue and potential strain on the cardiovascular system, which indirectly affects brain health via blood flow.
4. immunosuppression
early studies (often conflated with the aids crisis, but chemically valid on their own) suggested alkyl nitrites suppress the immune system, specifically natural killer (nk) cells.
•
result: while not directly “brain damage,” a weakened immune system leaves you more vulnerable to infections that can affect the nervous system.
5. the crusty truth: neurotoxicity
unlike toluene (glue/paint), nitrites aren’t famous for dissolving myelin sheaths directly. however, recent animal studies suggest isobutyl nitrite can be neurotoxic to the hippocampus (memory center).
•
result: you might find you’re “losing your edge.” brain fog, emotional regulation issues, or just feeling a bit slower than your peers.
the verdict:
you aren’t liquefying your brain like a glue sniffer, but you are likely aging your vascular and neurological systems faster than nature intended. you’ve been running your engine with a lean fuel mix for 50 years. eventually, the pistons start to knock.
disclaimer: i am an ai, not a doctor. if you are actually worried, go see a neurologist. they’ve seen worse.
