Update on LRM poppers I bought a month ago.

Been 4 to 5 weeks since I received my LRM poppers from France. Not much left in the bottles. Figured they must be dead - just sitting around at RT. But to my surprise, both the hexyl and pentyl still have juice and don't smell bad. I did add Kcarb and MS4...so don't know how much that may have helped.

Just tried the JJ Black pentyl today again.....thinking it's got to be dead by now....and nope...very potent, pungent odor...less of the cat piss odor. Seems better than when first tried in a way.

Joe Miller's poppers, circa 2008, never lasted more than a day for me. But I never used MS4 and Kcarb with those poppers. Don't know what to make of the longevity of LRM's poppers yet.

I must admit I was impressed with my LRM order from Poppers Aromas, reminded of the 90s stuff we use to have here in the UK before The EU poked their noses in and ruined everything.

OK...now I'm really confused. I tried the left over JJ Gold 10 ml bottle I originally bought at the first of July, 2021. I could have sworn it was totally dead. Today, August 25, 2021, I gave it some hard sniffs and it had lots of remaining juice. It was just sitting round at RT too with a bit of Kcarb and MS4 in it. So....this demonstrates a couple of things. Poppers can last for months at RT even once opened and while being used without using inert gases to cover the fluid when not being used. It also demonstrates that when a popper seems to have died, maybe there is still plenty of active compound present...perhaps being masked by other impurities, or perhaps, some other evolution occurs within the bottle that ramps up potency again once a certain amount of time has passed.

@Don....I started poppers in 2008, when presumably Joe Miller of PWD was making most of the OTC poppers in the USA. The LRM poppers are not the same and I'm not sure how the chemistry differs. LRM's manager won't say a thing although he offered an MSDS form, which supposedly lists all the active and inactive ingredients. He said it wouldn't do any good since you have to know how to mix the proper ratios. He's very afraid of giving out trade secrets and/or crossing legal boundaries. Joe's poppers hissed upon opening and gave a strong hit initially and were ass relaxers, slut inducers. They went south pretty quickly in less than 24 hours and I don't remember any of the ones I bought becoming active later on. I don't remember the exact odors from that period except to say they couldn't have been very distinct. The 95% IBN and BN I bought from the large chemical companies had very distinct odors. Isoamyl nitrite, 95%, all 500mls of it from Alfa Asar, had a slightly fruity odor, mild and not very distinct....that is until it started going bad, very quickly and turned into a foul strong odor. The LRM pentyl poppers have a distinct odor, not sure if it's from an odorant or not. Becomes more of a cat piss chemical odor. When first opened, I didn't feel a very strong hit. As stated, they have come back to life over a month later and seem as strong as Joe Miller's were on average.

I've determined the periodicity to be 11-22 days.

what @NSP calls kcarb is the compound potassium carbonate. It prevents alkyl nitrites from generating gas in a closed volume (like the ampoules that prescription Amyl nitrite used to be in, or a bottle), which slows down decomposition.

MS4 is molecular seive 4A (4 angstrom); it is a water adsorber (3A is even better)

I could usually get 1 solid week from Joe Miller's products. Usually a good gooning session with old VCR and DVD porn following by some old fashioned Adult Video store cruising on Thursday to Saturday evenings Sunday the product still had some kick but I didn't like the smell so tossed it.

There's no hissing sound when you first open any bottle of UK iso propyl. That's why they were named 'Poppers' in the first place, because of that sound.

that's a pic of the packaging on the original Amyl nitrite ampoules; they were thin glass encased in a cotton sock; one would crush the glass inside, making a snapping or 'popping' sound.

It was prescription only, but recreational users tended to call them poppers

R.Don cheers I ordered the ones you mentioned,so look forward to them arriving.The bottles that I have bought in the UK have been crap over the last 6 months,they went stale so quickly compared to other years I imagine because of covid and shops being shut for a very long time and those stupid safety caps that don't seal properly they have gone off very quickly,even after a day or 2 and I had never known this to happen before.I did get some with the tight cap too and they weren't much better,sometimes they aren't screwed very tight when you first take the wrapper off! It's so annoying.I had been using "English poppers in the white bottle with the red Cross and bottles of Pig Sweat that I used to like but are always quickly stale now
