So I went a little crazy with poppers for about 3 months(pretty stupid but they felt amazing). Using them anywhere from 2-5 times a week sometimes multiple times in a day.
I would take large hits, sniffing from the bottle for 20-30 sec at a time.

after a while I started developing a cough that would get worse with heavier usage.

I have now stopped all popper use for about 2 weeks now. The cough is getting better, but i still have quite a bit a phlegm that I cough up when I wake up every day. Im worried I may have caused permanent damage.

Anyone else who has used heavily and had similar symptoms able to tell me if they were able to fully recover?

Jako said on Wed, 14 May 2014 at 06:17...

After a session, the immune system lowers for approx 3 days after.
So, 2- 5 sessions per week means your immune system is permanently lowered all week. That's not a good state to be in fella!
It's like all 'substances' you have to clean up for a while. Once a week is okay.

The over use is the cause, agitation to membranes. Answer: use less often. Cough is caused by natural production of phlegm after agitation and will pass in time.

If you're using isopropyl a lot, then this does happen. But it does go away. It will end up putting you off isopropyl poppers in the long run tho. You will know if it's isopropyl, if you get the tell-tale scabby nostrils!

If you can get hold of some isobutyl (or the daddy, amyl), you wouldn't get this.

But don't worry it'll go away if you quit the isopropyl.

Brother...stop that...popper maculopathy is what you should be worried about. Happened to me....bad... Google it. You can lose your eye sight. For real. Im 2 weeks out and still no change. Central vision gone. Its happening more and more since 2010. Experts aren't sure why. Dude gokgle it. Its real. Happened to me in one night from over doing it with poppers. Starves your retina of oxygen...the blue color. The cells die. May correct itself after SEVERAL montb. If abstinent. Very scary.. no cure.
Be careful. Blue is bad. 23 years of use...no problem. One bad night and now im dealing with this. I was using the original rush. Yellow/red bottle.

Erm, I got severe cough while using them constantly (isopropyl) for a few months and stupidly didn't stop and I still have the cough now - 1 year later - it got a lot better but it's never gone. Find myself coughing when I talk to people and all the time really.

Think the stupid thing was carrying on when I knew it was giving me extreme cough fits the next day - where I'd cough, then cough inside a cough and cough hard so all my air was out, then breathe in just to cough again. With hindsight shoulda read the signs and quit.

If anyone figures out anything that can improve - do share - 1 year on I still have it, though not as severe.

I'm also worried about my eyesight after a stupid night bingeing on 3 bottles of Liquid Gold, manufactured by Perpol and as sold in all UK sex shops.

It was the first time I'd used any poppers in three months, and the first time I'd used isopropyl in nine months.

There has been a general degradation in my vision and a loss of focus. I can't recognise faces from the same kind of distance or so well read writing on the screen, and my eyes are sensitive to bright lights.

I pray my vision returns to normal. It's been four days now. I am worried from what I've read that the damage has been done, it won't get better. Still I thank God that I didn't do even more harm, and that this is a warning not to ever do them again.

I had the same issue with the cough. smaller hits and try a allergy medication. Allegra worked for me. Cleared up my allergies and helped with the cough. I learned I got the same good high on a small hit just as I did a big hit.

IHatePoppers:
Don't be too alarmed, I have exactly the same problem, its a relatively new eye condition, 'Poppers maculopathy'. I have been diagnosed by a highly qualified eye doctor. I was using UK poppers like Liquid Gold not realising the formula had changed in 2007. The good news: If you stop altogether your eyesight won't get any worse. My vision has stayed the same for 4 years after diagnosis. Bingeing on Iso Propyl Nitrite is dangerous, it can also cause severe breathing problems.

Did your guys eyesight improve after stopping taking them?

Jako said on Sat, 6 Dec 2014 at 16:57...

Andy: In my case no improvement as yet, but complete abstinence from poppers will prevent further deterioration, and a possible improvement of visual acuity. So I'm hoping.

I have been using poppers since 2006 and never had any problems. Recently I used a new brand (isopropyl nitrate) and it was mint-scented. One night I went a bit mad and sniffed too much I guess. And then the problems began... difficulties recognizing people's faces and focusing on small details, reading small letters on a computer screen took me more time and focus than usual. I obviously read everything about poppers maculopathy, went to see a doctor, had my eyes tested for poppers maculopathy and it showed some small changes. She said my eyesight was generally not too bad and she has seen worse cases of poppers maculopathy but I definitely should stop using poppers. I tried... my vision got a bit better but I still see a dot when I look at the sky and blink my eyes repeatedly. Does someone see it all the time, actually? I stopped using poppers for two weeks but then used it again but the old brand. I know it's very risky I guess but it hasn't made my eyesight worse. I just don't know if it will ever be back to normal completely. I just feel annoyed I was told to stop completely because if using the old brand does not do any harm to my eyes and my eyesight is not going to get any better or worse then is it really worth giving up poppers completely?

Jako (UK) said on Fri, 19 Dec 2014 at 21:17...

Tom: 'The new brand' IPN appeared in 2007 as a legal replacement for the 'old brand'. The symptoms you describe are typical of 'Poppers Maculopathy' (caused by IPN).
Giving up is good advice. I have, and maybe my eyesight will improve in time.

Yes I know thats not good. But I been doing poppers 23 years. Never anything like this. This is a game changer for me. Happened in ONE night. Was using rush brand yellow/red bottle. Google it. Hi all - interesting threads here about PM - it's certainly a concern and I don't think enough is being done to earn people using the new formulas of poppers. I've suffered with PM for about a year now. Thinking back when using poppers I noticed yellow rings in my central vision but at the time thought nothing of it. Unbeknown it was severely damaging my central vision. Looking on Google it's the photoreceptors that take the hit. These are essential for things like reading number plates, recognising people's faces from a distance - even typing this thread now I notice visual disturbances.

In some cases if you stop using the poppers - in time your vision will correct itself, but this is not guranteed.

Keep away from the poppers is my advice. That small hit is not worth the loss of vision.

I have had eye problems for some time now approx 2 years and realise that poppers are the cause. I have been to see neurologists, opticians and ophthalmologists that have so far been unable to find a problem with my eyes. I have used poppers on and off for about 3 years not in excess only 3 or 4 inhalations at a time in one day and not necessarily on a regular basis, sometimes once a week for a few weeks and sometimes not used at all for several months. but my focus and vision can be blurred and a pain in my left eye and it sort of feels stiff and dry. I struggle with bright lights particularly artificial light and also white walls, its as though someone has just taken a photo and a flash has gone off in my eyes. I started reading about the vision problems caused by poppers a year or so ago and have tried to abstain from them the longest I went was about 6 months of not using them then used them one night and again 3 months later and again this week. I did find that when I hadn't used them for several months my eyes were a lot better and hate myself for going so long and letting myself do poppers again knowing how bad they are for your health. Reading this forum today has helped me and I will now try again to stop altogether. It is horrible to go 6 months and then use them again it makes you feel crap and that you have let yourself down. Its is re assuring to know people are learning more about this problem and becoming aware, I hope a people read this and stop using them and help spread the word. Most of the things I have read about poppers were outdated and not very helpful this forum is the best I have found and will now check regularly to see what updates and news people have. I am more than happy to communicate directly with anyone interested in sharing their experiences and progress with this issue.

Hi JasonX,

I know how much you're struggling. I've been going through the same I know it isn't easy. I am still very angry I had to give up using poppers. People say you can't get addicted to it but I think you can. Psychologically. And obviously everyone is different and some people can easily give up because they're not that bothered. I think I am a bit more complicated and found it extremely difficult to give up. I used it for the last time last month and I'm surviving. I saw a doctor 4 months ago and had my eyes scanned. It showed some very small changes. I had another scan two days ago and the doctor said she couldn't see any changes. My vision is better now but I still see that black dot when looking at very bright lights. You can drop me a line if you need someone to talk to. Just not sure how you want to contact me. Let me know.

After sniffing poppers (Jungle Juice) & (Rush), I can see some eye floaters whenever I see light, it intensifies during the day because if the sunlight, and at night, I see Rays of lights coming out of all lights. It is like after you are crying, you see those rays, can someone please tell me this is temporary. Probably my body is overreacting, has someone had a similar experience and been ok afterwards?

Thank you.

Never going to sniff poppers ever again....

Hi - This is my first post.

So I was using Liquid Gold pretty heavily for two years up until January 2015. After a heavy session, I got really weird symptoms that have lasted months so far: Ectoptic heart beats, chesty cough, sudden outbreak of cherry angiomas, memory problems, aphasia and stuttering, flashing lights in my peripheral vision, and a black/purple cloud in my central vision when looking at bright lights or when I rapidly blink.

Went to A&E a few times in regard to the heart beats - they told me all was good. Had a chest X-Ray - came back fine. Cherry Angiomas are considered normal anyway so nothing can be investigated there. My GP just shrugged off the speech problems and aphasia, so there's room for more research there.

As for the eyesight: I got back from the Eye Hospital today and had several tests: She said there were some subtle spots on my right retina which she pointed out to me on the computer. I'm going to have a retina dye injection test in four weeks.

So far all symptoms have subsided except for the vision, memory and slight aphasia. Whether all of my symptoms are attributable to the poppers is difficult to say.

For the record, I was also heavily exposed to black mould spores for several weeks from a water damaged building at exactly the same time as my last heavy popper session. It's possible that the lowered immune system caused by the poppers made me more susceptible to black mould mycotoxicosis. Blood tests showed a slightly lower white blood cell count during this period.

Just thought I'd post my experiences here. I know popper use comes with risks, but the industry really needs to be informed about isopropyl-nitrate if it is proven to be more dangerous than the previous recipe.

After all, surely the recipe change was designed to make things safer?

Hi guys I am Andy from Leicester,
I am 43 and have been using poppers now for about 12 years. I didn't like them in my 20's -- but LOVED them in my 30's and when I went cruising back in the early 2000's I had NO problems at all with them...

Anyway; then suddenly in 2008/09 (or thereabouts -- after they had changed the ingredients in the UK) -- I got this big black spot right in the middle of my vision!! I was terrified. It was after a VERY heavy night of using them with this guy! It lasted for about 3 or 4 months -- so I totally stopped using poppers, and gradually the spot faded away.

I would notice this spot when I looked up at the sky, I would blink repeatedly and would notice the spot even more! If I looked at something black, then the spot would appear white. I had EXACTLY the same problems as all you other guys. I couldn't read number plates. I couldn't see peoples faces as they approached me in the street. I couldn't see properly if I went to the theatre. And I couldn't see fine writing clearly. Every morning when I woke up I would pray that my sight would be better, but it wasn't! The poppers had stopped the oxygen getting to my eyes, and part of my macular had died off. I didn't realize this at the time though? It took another few years to actually realize this; and a LOT of studying on the internet.

I went to the hospital when my eyes just wouldn't clear up -- but they could NOT find anything wrong with me? This was in 2010 before the government were admitting that the NEW ingredients were dangerous!

You see this is the reason why poppers have been banned in the UK, and why the Queen has suddenly banned all "Legal High's" -- its because the fucking UK government have realized now that poppers can make you blind -- and its all their fault, because if they hadn't have changed the ingredients back in 2007 then none of this would have happened and we would NEVER have had to change to Isopropyl,,, (before 2007 we used to have Isobutyl in the UK -- but they are now only seemingly available in the USA).... It seems that the UK government DID NOT test Isopropyl properly before they introduced it to the UK... But of course because these drugs are sold as "Room Odourises" I guess the government will get away with damaging our eyesight. They will just say "Well you shouldn't have been inhaling them!"

In my case; I was really stupid and as soon as my eyes got back to normal (after about a year), I started to use them again. I could really kick myself for using them again; because your eyesight is SO precious, and as you guys have already said, its just not worth it for about a 20 second high. So I was using them all through 2011 and 2012 and 2013 and then I started to get the black dot again -- as if someone had taken my photograph with a bright flash!!! And yet the flash just WOULD NOT go away! I was really stupid using them again. You'd think I would have learned my lesson; but they were so addictive that I couldn't stop using them! Especially whilst watching porn on my laptop. Sometimes I would be using them for about an hour at a time.

During those three years of using them; I figured out a trick!! As soon as I had cum I would quickly lie down on the sofa; and put my legs in the air against the back of the sofa, and lie down with my head backwards on the floor; and my bum on the sofa -- so that ALL of the blood would rush to my eyes!!! And I would blink repeatedly for about 30 minutes.... It was ridiculous! I was virtually upside-down to get the oxygen and blood to my eyes and my brain because I KNEW what damage I was doing! And in my mind I thought "Oh I must get the oxygen to my eyes quickly because I've been starving them all that time I was wanking!" -- I knew that blinking repeatedly would get more oxygen to my eyes, so I would carry out this silly regime every time I used poppers, and it seemed to work... Oh and I would also take massive deep breaths of air!!!! I would lie there upside down and would be blinking, and would watch the spot as it would gradually disappear... the MORE oxygen I gulped down the more the spot more vanish... So I would take a massive deep breath -- hold it for about five seconds, and then let it out, and then blink and see if the spot was going??? As soon as it was gone, I would sit upright again... But NOT before!! I was playing Russian Roulette with my eyesight!

But now; I'm just too scared to use them! I've read so much on the internet about guys going blind because of them; and I still have a very slight spot when I blink repeatedly (even though I've not used them for months and months now) -- so fingers crossed I will never use them again!

The other thing I've done is to write myself an Email -- saying "Do you want to go blind Andy???! If so then keep using poppers!"

The only trouble is, is that having a wank watching porn is SO boring without poppers. I sort of crave the good old days about ten years ago when the sex shops sold the safe poppers that didn't damage your eyesight and didn't make your lungs feel heavy and damaged...

I'm telling you younger guys -- the poppers from before 2007 were definitely different!!!!!!! They were much safer, much smoother, I never had any problems with them... They never made me turn blue....

I honestly don't know what the answer is? Yes! Stop using them and have a boring sex life... or try to order the Isobutyl poppers from America? But the thing is!! If you DO order them -- how do you know what you're getting is the real deal? They could be Isopropyl for all we know? I once ordered some Isobutyl poppers from America; but they cost a fortune and took about 2 months to arrive (I think they sent them via a ship instead of Airmail) -- and they were STILL not as good as the ones we used to have in the early 2000's...

I think for me, the only answer is to completely STOP using them! I've never smoked in my life; but I compare this to having to stop smoking! You know the cigarette smoke is BAD for you and is probably killing you; but what a boring life it is without them!!!!!!!

Anyone wanting to chat to me i will give you my email..

My mate went for his driving test, was asked to read a numberplate and couldn't – test cancelled and his provisional license was immediately withdrawn. Went to optician, then to GP, then to hospital specialist in central London who asked him directly do you take poppers? Yes, he said and had a big binge two years ago. (He has had vision problems with glare for 2 years.) That's the cause said the consultant – irreparable damage - I see this every week. I can do nothing for you except tell you to stop. And he explained it was because of the reformulation to IBP in 2007. My mate will now wear tinted glasses to hope that this will help with glare...

JDC said on Sun, 21 Jun 2015 at 16:36...

Well after an evening using isopropyl poppers (probably 12 inhales or so) I have exactly these symptoms. I suspect almost everyone who inhales isopropyl based poppers will suffer vision issues but may not make the connection.

I had noticed a week after exposure that something was not quite right with my vision. One way to tell is to look at a large white surface like a wall and blink rapidly. If you see an altered visual spot in the centre of your vision you have damaged your sight thanks to isopropyl poppers. Other symptoms include a sensitivity to illuminated objects (traffic lights, light bulbs, car brake lights in my case) immediately / days after.

Well done to whoever decided to ban butyl & amyl which did not cause this damage and give the other nasty side effects that the legal isopropyl does! I remember the days of amyl & butyl, and neither caused these symptoms or damage. This is a VERY DANGEROUS situation we have here, and one which is not receiving anywhere near enough publicity. I have tried to start a new thread on here but seem unable to do so? Can someone else try to start a new thread about this issue which NEEDS to be put out there to save people damaging their eyesight....

Andy Leicester said on Wed, 24 Jun 2015 at 17:52...

I've been thinking A LOT about this! I was wondering if we all had a GOOD case in taking the government to court about this? The reason I say this is because it was the government who changed the ingredients to poppers back in 2007 (?) or whenever it was? And ALL of us are saying the same story!!! i.e, that we have ALL been using poppers for years and years with NO trouble at all...... And then hey presto; the moment the government changes the ingredients from Isobutyl to Isopropyl in 2007, we all start going blind.... But the thing is; is that its been happening SO slowly; and gradually; and its such a new phenomenon that none of us twigged that other gay guys might also be suffering!

Perhaps we ought to band together and take the government to court and get money out of the fuckers? Your eyesight is SO precious; and had I known that Isopropyl would give me this condition, then I NEVER would have used it in the first place!

I actually remember vividly, the first time it happened back in about 2008, i went back to the sex shop, and said "Hey listen, I want to buy some of the old style poppers, because these are making my eyes go weird!!" -- but he refused to sell them to me! His actual words were; "No sorry, they are illegal now; I can't sell them to you." -- So that means that the government put us all at risk for 8 years. From 2007 to 2015.

I agree with JDC (above poster) when he says: Quote: "This is a VERY DANGEROUS situation we have here, and one which is not receiving anywhere near enough publicity. I have tried to start a new thread on here but seem unable to do so? Can someone else try to start a new thread about this issue which NEEDS to be put out there to save people damaging their eyesight..".. (Unquote)

Thanks guys...

I can't start any new thread either but it doesn't matter. Just thought I would write something as it's been a few months now since I first experienced vision problems. I stopped doing poppers for a few months and my vision is back to normal now. I don't know what it depends on but I know some people's problems do not go away. Anyway, mine did, and I'm glad. It obviously meant that I started using poppers again. I know it's probably silly but I have been using it for 3 months now and my vision is not affected in any way. I just went back to using the brands I used to use, which didn't cause any problems. I know most of you will thing it's super irresponsible and I was scared to use poppers again at first but decided to give it a go and I'm fine. I don't buy it in the UK, though. This stuff is just shit. Bought it once in a sex shop and threw it away straight away. It felt awful and that's probably what gives most people vision problems. Anyway, thought I would share it with you. Call me dumb but I'm glad my sex life is back to 'normal' and I can just have a wank at home instead of meeting guys for sex or being in a relationship. Weird, but I am.

aqua said on Wed, 1 Jul 2015 at 14:02...

I had a fluorescein angiogram which detected epithelial changes to the retina in the position where my vision is affected. Like other posters here, I sense the changes most notably when looking at a white wall and blinking rapidly.

My ophthalmologist has said the changes for me are likely permanent, but I'm not sure if I believe that totally.

The eye is a very technical bit of biological kit that relies on relatively unique trace elements, and so is not likely to restore itself without a modified diet rich in all the things it needs to heal. I've been looking at Boron as one such element along with BDNF (brain derived neurotrophic factor) which is synthesised by the brain from a combination of daily aerobic activity combined with large amounts of omega-3 and folic acid.

For the people who have recovered that's great news, but could you perhaps share some insight into your lifestyle, so as we all might get a rough understanding of things that might help. For example, do you go to the gym regularly...? Do you eat well / poorly? Are you on any types of vitamins? Do you get much sunlight? Etc etc...

Any information I'm sure would be a great help.

Andy Leicester said on Thu, 16 Jul 2015 at 15:56...

In response to "Aqua"s statement above -- I seem to be in the same boat as you. I can only TRULY see the damage done when I stare at a white wall and blink repeatedly-really-quickly-over-and-over!!

But ONE phenomena I have ALSO noticed, (and maybe you get this too??) is that whenever I get stressed about something then the condition gets much worse, and more evident!!!!!

When the human body reacts to a sudden "stress-Bolt" -- then you sort of get a jolt inside your body, and your heart suddenly beats faster -- even if its only momentarily (i.e phone ringing - doorbell ringing -- someone shouting etc)... And when that happens I find that I can see the white spot in front of my eyes much more evidently. It can even be seen whilst I am just surfing on the internet..

So in other words my body is in a relaxed "mode" whilst I'm reading something on the internet etc; something will happen to momentarily stress me, (such as the reason I stated above), I feel a rise in tension in my body! And if I look back at the computer I can see that awful spot in front of my eyes!!!! And of course that then makes me even MORE stressed, and it takes awhile for it to go away...

And I think to myself "Oh God - I've still got it then! It hasn't gone away!!!" -- and it makes me worried as to just WHEN will my eyes totally recover? In fact I have an awful feeling that they never will recover fully -- and this is the best they will ever be... ?

So long story, short -- I think stress can make it worse...

And just imagine if I started using them again! ALL of the goodness I've achieved in not using poppers for all these months would be undone; and my eyesight might get even worse than it is now??? I sort of feel lulled into a false sense of security because my eyesight has recovered slightly, and sometimes I think "Oh surely I can use poppers again NOW -- after all these months...." (The human brain can play nasty tricks on you)...

Tom; I think you're very silly to tempt fate and start using poppers again, when you know that they can make you go blind. You were very very lucky to recover completely from the first episode you experienced, so why are you jeopardising your health? I know they are VERY addictive so I don't blame you; but try a bit harder to stop using them.

"Aqua" -- Do you live in the UK?? Do you think we should all bandy together and hold the UK government responsible for this? I mean it was them that changed the ingredients in 2005 to something dangerous, and now this "plague" of "Poppers Maculopathy" has taken ahold of scores (perhaps hundreds or even thousands?) of people.

Some people might not even be aware their eyesight is damaged because they aren't perhaps quite so pernikity as me.

Hi...i have been using poppers imported from uk for almost a year now, on almost daily basis. Typically i would sniff 3-4 times.

I wish to visit the eye doctor for check but i doubt drs in my country hv any idea about poppers since only very small minority use it

Any suggestion of what sort of problem should i tell them so that they would conduct the correct test on my eyes in order to see whether my eyes has been affected by the prolonged use of poppers.

1st post was august 14 2014 or around there. My eyes got significantly better with abstinence. However only after about 4 monthes. After that i tried using poppers once a week and only lightly. May be 5 hits and done. My vision continued to improve but not as quickly.so i figured if i continue like this i should continue to recover. As long as i dont over do it. I was hoping the problem was large amounts, not use in general. During this time i ate tons of raw kale, took Lutein and zeaxathin.(sp?) Also ran 2 days a week,i figured oxygen to the brain would be good. Anyway in may 2015 had a wild night. Lots of poppers. I tried to be careful but we know how that can go. I Woke up and had damaged my eyes again. I was pissed. All that healing progress gone. The damage wasnt as bad as the 1st time back in 2014, but was significant. Went abstinent again. Then i figured a little wont hurt, as long as i dont huff it, overdo it for long periods. Then the most unexpected thing happened. Did a light popper session last week. 8 hits max. And damaged my eyes worse than the wild night in may 7 weeks priorwhere i did poppers for hours. And it was an old bottle ! So im really pausing now. Perhaps its because i had just done damage in may and they were more susceptible? ? I thought damage came from heavy use. Huffing it. Now i see you can damage eyes from just a little. Im really stopping. I need to heal . Cant lose my eyesight. Same symptoms as everyone. White light is enemy. Central vision gone. Like a frosted lens covering tiny lettering. It healed once, i hope it will heal again. It wasnt 100% healed from 2014 but was 85%. It healed slow. Like each month i noticed a small improvement. Dark green leafy veggies and yellow veggies are your best friend. And of course abstinence. Sucks cause i LOVE poppers. 23 plus years. No problems. Now i have to stop. We need the old formula. Wheres the chemists ??
Lets do this. There has got to be a solution to this. And no poppers is not acceptable. Nor is damaged eyes. The old formula is out there. Bring it back.

Hi B Dude....

Yes I feel your pain!! If they had stuck to the original ingredients in the UK in the first place, then none of this would have happened!!!!! But no they decided to change the ingredients in about 2007, and now (even when we buy what we think is Isobutyl Nitrate) we still don't know what is going happen to us?!?!? I mean, how do we actually know that what we are sniffing is Isobutyl????? And as for the "Good Stuff" from ten years, twenty years etc -- ago, (i.e the SAFE STUFF) I don't think it exists any more??? I've come to the conclusion that they just don't manufacture it any more.

There are so many places selling poppers on line nowadays that WHO knows what you are getting??? It could just be Nail Polish Remover for all we know???

I've had to make a truly life-changing decision to just GIVE UP poppers once and for all!!! Its so fucking boring; but my eyesight comes first! Its a shame because I really miss them!!!!

I had excessive use and my vision is altered, it's not as sharp and clear as it was, one of my friend is ophthalmologist and he said sometimes it's permanent damage.
I won't touch this ever again
It's not worth it, few mins of pleasure and all life of pain is not comparable

An idiot! said on Mon, 10 Aug 2015 at 14:19...

So like most on here I've used the new version of poppers, massive hits, combined with cocaine! Feels unreal. But like others I've felt the cost! Lowered immune system, difficulty breathing, nasel irritation and the worst all the symptoms of poppers maculopathy. Eye pain, aversion to light, and ofc the misty blur at the centre of you're vision, made worse by light coloured or reflective surfaces (can't make out faces). Once ide realised what ide done, and coupled with the fact I was in a dark place imotionaly, with a two week hiatus I then binged again! Just not giving a shit anymore, what an idiot. But someone must have been looking out for me!
As soon as I saw the blue spot for a second time I stopped sniffing! Panic set in! even in my diluotional state! I then began to breath deeply to clear my lungs and I began clamping my eyes closed, so hard I could see the blue circle change colour to yellow, squinting hard and hard I could see the yellow circles getting smaller and more vivid! Until I couldn't see it anymore! As soon as I released my eyes I could see the yellow circles again, so I respected the process several times. In between each time I would focus on thing and strain my eyes in different locations rapidly! Almost making myself go cross eyed. Don't ask me why I did all this, i was high and not in my right mind!
Drinking lots of water, taking ibuprofen, paracetamol, codeine I then passed out!
Upon waking the next day, furious with myself for what I had done, I looked in the mirror, still a blue hue to my skin which comes from poppers abuse! I suddenly realised my eyes were normal again. Shocked I went outside to see faces in the sunlight, and bar the hangover I could see almost perfectly again! Now after several months my eyesight is normal again! I still get eye pain and dry eyes now and again, mainly when staring at a screen! I class myself extremely lucky to have recovered! Now I'm not saying I'm right in my assumption, but the phrase "what kills cures" might be the case here
I hope this helps someone, maybe someone out there has had the same experience!

An idiot said on Mon, 10 Aug 2015 at 16:18...

Reading that back I don't want anyone to try this without consulting a real expert on eyes and someone who knows a lot about this subject. Maybe the could explain what happened to me! I won't follow it up as its in the buried past!

Old One Eye said on Wed, 12 Aug 2015 at 05:52...

There was quite a bit to get through in this thread. I glommed onto that poppers maculapathy thing that was mentioned and looked it up. I'm one of those guys who loves poppers and have used them since about 1980 (about 25 years). Twenty-five because they were unavailable some years. I have one eye that is not as good as the other. I do not need glasses according to the eye doctor, but I certainly have to do some compensating. I don't believe I have that maculapathy thing, because the eye doctor would have seen it. What I've thought is that my right nostril was always my 'best' one for sniffing. First the left, then really go at the right one. I always thought that opening my eyes too soon while the vapours were still wafting up did something to my right eye. Closed eyes for the left nostril, then open eyes toward the end of the right nostril. Still pretty sure this did some damage and it wasn't from anything else because my parents seem to have pretty good eyesight. But who knows. If I had to do it all over again? I would have stockpiled the amyl nitrate poppers before they changed, and I would have stockpiled extra poppers for any times where the authorities took them away. Now I'm going to go through the various threads to find out if there are any ways of extending the life of a bottle of poppers other than the refrigerator thing, which doesn't seem to help. Oh yeah, I am sorry to hear of the serious damage some people have suffered (didn't mean to downplay it).

I had this for ages (over 12 months) then it seemed to clear up to barely noticeable unless I concentrated. This happened after I stopped checking to see if I could see it every half hour.

I suspect part of the problem is I was training my brain to see the spot.
Try forgetting about it and see if it improves.

james said on Fri, 13 Nov 2015 at 07:45...

Brilliant thread! In a time where this is still so new its amazing to find so much combined info...
Happened to me a year and a half ago, no spots in my vision but a massive loss of focus, i couldn't even see the phone screen in my hand or barley the phone, number plates were impossible and peoples faces also unrecognisable...
Just woke up in the morning like it after a beer and poppers binge, been using poppers for 20 years odd and never a problem.... NEVER AGAIN
Sex or wanking pales into insignificance compared to vision... and yes i miss it but its all about re training your brain to enjoy sex and masturbation without it..
As for my eyes, well one eye as the other one is lazy so never worked any good i went immediately to the doctors and optition for a check up and told them both i'd been using poppers and they both just looked at me daft and said they doubt there is a link even after i said i'd found a link on the internet..
I ate as much betaceratine as possible for about 6 weeks after, my diet is quite healthy anyway and slowly my vision came back, not 100% but 90% i'd say, its still a struggle to read any small print and i notice its intermittent, sometimes i struggle with phone text and sometimes its ok.
Maybe it is linked to stress like someone posted earlier but i do defiantly think that the key to recovery is OBVIOUSLY stop poppers, never again and diet and eye vitamins (Lutein , Zeaxantin) like mentioned above.

Binge user here, 6 months, everyday, used during wanking - Liquid Gold & Platinum. My vision is fine, I did get green tinge to vision when using heavily but it would fade and return to normal within 4 hours, I also sometimes got blue/grey fingers/feet and fingernails which would last for up to 36 hours. Stopped using 10 days ago and am getting strong panic attacks, anxiety, dry mouth, nerve tingling in forearms and shins, sweating, chills etc. Anyone else have this happen after stopping? Psychological addiction perhaps? Am I going through withdrawal or cold turkey or something? Feels like cocaine withdrawal/anxiety, thanks for your thoughts.

Backtonormal said on Sun, 7 Feb 2016 at 11:57...

Having used many times before no problem, Novemeber 2015 I used a Rush bottle from a newsagent about 6/7 times over an evening, resulting in really awful vision. I was terrified - I couldn't recongise faces unless I was about a foot away, couldn't read off screens at all, and any bright lights were so vibrant and felt almost toxic to look at. Anything red was now a bright orange.

I was sure it was permanent as there was no improvement. I was constantly looking about trying to figure out if it was getting better...every morning waking up wishing it was gone.

Now about three months later with abstinence, my eye sight it 99% better. The only issue I have now it looking at the sky and blinking rapidly there's is a small faint dot in the centre of my vision - a reminder of not to get myself in the same situation!

Just relax if it happens, abstain from use and it will get better.

Rob said on Fri, 12 Feb 2016 at 05:31...

I have been having acutely worsening night vision. and the central vision continues to get worse even after six weeks of abstinence. When I drive at night, it is almost pitch black with car lights appearing like dots. I can't judge their distance. It is like seeing lights in the sky and you know there is a plane flying but can't tell how far away it is. Daytime vision looks very faded. Reds look maroon. Have any of you guys experienced this? How long does it take to recover?

b dude said on Sat, 20 Feb 2016 at 10:15...

As backtonormal said. Relax, abstain. It gets better. I've had it 3x real bad. Along with a few minor setbacks in between. But every time it slowly improves. Im about 95% better. And i had it BAD. real bad one time. Like worse case bad. Could barely drive a car. Scary shit. Read my other posts on proper nutrition. IT WILL HEAL. If you let it. After at least 3 to 4 monthes of abstinence along with NOTABLE improvement, if you feel compelled to do poppers, USPOPSHOP.COM has good stuff that wont damage eyes. I prefer the industrial strenth. Good buzz, and Im continuing to improve. But if damage is fresh, only abstinence will allow healing. Trust me I know. No dabbling until notable healing has occurred. Then try uspopshop.com. .....not the strongest, but easy on eyes. Worth it.

I've only recently started using poppers, but right away I noticed a green spot in the centre of my vision as if I'd been looking at a bright light. It went away fairly quickly after I stopped using poppers and I didn't bother much about it, but last night I had quite an intense and prolonged session using it. After I noticed the green spot in my vision wasn't going away and it's lasted most of today. Now it is gradually fading away, but this has really frightened me. Especially when I went on line and found quite a few reports from people who had damaged their vision through using poppers. I've really enjoyed using poppers. They really do intensify sex either with a partner or just having a bit of fun alone, and I've just ordered a new batch a couple of days ago, but now I think the best thing I should do is put them straight in the bin when they arrive. I'm so disappointed because poppers really do improve sex, and I was looking forward to experimenting with them, but I can't risk damaging my eyesight permanently. There should be more warnings that if you use poppers there is a risk you could damage your vision. Your eyesight is very precious, and it's not worth the risk.

I have been binge using poppers recently and noticed that my eyesight was funny after using them....I had dimmed vision and a big black spot in my vision but this went away an hour or so later. However some effects recently started to last until the the next day - i would get blurry vision , and things were not as sharp. Stupidly I kept using them as I think I was kind of addicted to them, psychologically. Finally I got a bright yellow spot in my vision 3 weeks ago that stayed and it really worried me. I stopped right away and have been taking lutein supplements and a multivitamin. Me eyesight is now back to normal except for the yellow spot , however this seems to be fading. I will post an update with my progress but I am not touching poppers again. As I say, the yellow spot is fading but it is taking a while. I dont know if the lutein works but I saw on one journal that a guy whose eyes got better used it.

Hi all,

I had a case of poppers maculopathy after a single use, one of my first times using poppers.

Bright spot in the middle of my vision, which thank god faded after about 15min. For a couple of weeks after that, sensitivity to light and slightly blurry vision. I think I have made a full recovery now, about a month and a half later -- but It was a terribly scary experience! I took Lutein and Bilberry supplements at the beginning, which might have helped.

Having read other case reports, it does tend to fade and get better if you stop inhaling them so there is hope out there for the afflicted... Just stop using them! They might seem harmless but are not safe at all.

Stay safe!

I have used poppers quite a lot over the last three or four years. Late 2015 i noticed the blurring of central vision and the bright and dark spots if i look at light surfaces or the sky... a kind of sun blindness. My optitian referred me to an eye specialist as he said i have some discolouration of my retina. The specialist did some kind of scan and there was an indentation in my retina where the central vision comes from. His first question to me was do you do poppers. When i said yes he said, 'we have a diagnosis'. The poppers have damaged my retina. He said i was lucky as it is only one eye as it usually damages both eyes. He said the damage may go away if i stop using poppers. It means i struggle to read small text and recognise faces at a distance with my right eye. Not good. Spread the word... really i guess it is time that they were banned if this is the damage they do.

Used to use poppers from 99-07, stopped when they changed the law as they didn't work for me after the change. Recently decided to give them a try again for some stupid reason, had a couple of quite enjoyable sessions but started developing probems with my previously 20/20 eyesight. All the same symptoms as described above, blurry central vision / blind spot like after looking at the sun. Went to the eye hospital who couldnt see any problem. Only reading this thread and seeing all the same stories has helped me put two and two together. Will stop and try the vitamins. Hope it isnt permanent! :/

Last one week has been hell and not sure how many more weeks I have to suffer. How many months it took it for you to return to normal vision? Other than Lutein were you taking anything? Is there any treatment available. My doctor said he cannot do anything.

Joshb7 - yep my vision was blurry. To be frank it was f****d for weeks. When I would leave for work in the morning the street lights would be really bright and I would have trouble focusing, seeing things clearly and crossing busy roads. I also had trouble reading my computer. I also had a yellow spot (lasted for ages) in the centre of my vision that eventually went away.

Sam - I just took lutein and I also take a multivitamin most days. I can't say whether either supplement helped I just thought I better try something and to be honest I felt quite desperate. Hope your eyes get better x

Thank you for sharing dave39, you've given me hope, I've been feeling bleak and hating myself. At the same time I feel there is not enough awareness about poppers, I thought they were one of the more harmless highs out there, and here I am fearful of going blind, affecting my life, and my job (I work in the arts so am shattered right now).

I think it's important we should all report our condition so that action is taken against poppers; for the die hard fans out there who will protest this, at the very least banning this new toxic formulation, and educationg people properly. Personally I will never touch them again and spread word so nobody else finds themselves in this position.

It's only been a few days but I am taking Lutein and berry supplements and sleeping a lot. Hopefully this helps me to recover. I'm getting eye aches and head aches though so will see a specialist. I will update my progress for other out there too.

I ran across a recent study that suggested lutein supplements may help improve vision damaged by poppers use. The sample was extremely small (I think only 7 participants). One of the 7 was taking lutein supplements & that patient saw an actual improvement & reversal of vision loss. But the improvement was NOT a complete restoration of vision to the level it was before poppers use....

Tl,dr: lutein supplements + no more poppers....
Good luck

Sam, how long did your recovery take & did you take supplements etc?

Does anyone else have a large blind spot in their peripheral vision from using poppers ? I read a lot about central vision loss, granted mine isn't as sharp since using poppers, but this is not my area of actual vision loss.

I have a complete area in both eyes which is a blind spot, lights or objects can pass this spot in my field of view & disappear then reappear once passed a certain point. Any info would be much appreciated

Optometrist said on Thu, 9 Mar 2017 at 01:01...

So poppers....
As an optometrist I was unaware of poppers maculopathy until having some symptoms yesterday having used them for years. Having done some investigative work having had "yellowing" of my vision I discovered that my SpO2 (blood oxygen saturation level) stayed incredibly low <90% for about an hour after. This could cause death of retinal nerve fibres, it is interesting that they have found it specifically causes macula changes, particularly as it seems to happen so quickly. There seems to be no real information about this, so I will be carrying out some research. Luckily I have access to OCT machinery to carry out scans. We can also look at macular pigment. The supplements such as Lutein increase the macula pigment and help to protect the macula from blue light thereby protecting from oxidative damage from light, so it is interesting that some people have found this helps, as it is generally considered a protective thing rather than a reparative thing. I will update you all on the outcome. It would be really interesting to do a study

On the bottle there is a warning not to inhale. Maybe we should heed the warning. NO MORE POPPERS for me. Coughing, teeth problems due to sinus issues, diminished vision, concentration issues. After five years with this crap, I am done.

Ive been using poppers 1-2 times a day for 4-5 months and have developed a chronic cough. All my tests at the doctors - X-ray etc are normal and not better with antibiotics or steroid tablets. If it's due to the popper use and I stop - how long does it take to get better? anybody know?

There was one strain of marijuana I dont remember which but it seems like it helped my eyes. I feel that certain strains of marijuana might help in repairing any problems caused by poppers. Just my opinion. i'm not a doctor or in the medical field but once I felt that after smoking marijuana i felt that my eyes got alot better and that I could see alot better. For those that use poppers perhaps taking Lutrin an hour before you use poppers and smoking the right strain of marijuana might perhaps lessen the damage from poppers. ???

Hi,

Not much to report unfortunately.

Still experiencing blind spots in both eyes, floaters still giving me grief especially with the recent nice weather bright days we have had here in the UK.

Experiencing great difficulty when having to look at reflecting objects like traffic signs/fluorescent lights as it seems to blurr into one and highlight my floaters more.

Maybe I'm like this for good!! Hope you guys are having more luck ?

Paul Scott said on Wed, 12 Jul 2017 at 22:15...

I am amazed. I have used poppers on and off over the years, sometimes heavily. Over the past 4 years I have noticed my eyes becoming really poor, it feels like I am rapidly going blind.
Also, using poppers has made me go blue, in my finger nails it is especially noticeable.
I always believed poppers to be fairly harmless, we really need to get this message out there to other men, that wanking won't make you go blind, but using poppers will very likely give you the eyes of an 80 year old man.
Good luck to all you guys out there and I will report back in a few months if abstinence will induce any improvement in my sight.
Take care.

Join the club Paul Scott.Been using poppers about 5 years on and off and not excessively and have the same eye problem. After reading this site it has made me think.Last used poppers Amsterdam gold on 18th July 2017 and have the same problem as described on this site with central vision...wont be ever touching isopropyl ever again.Eyes seem to be recovering slightly.Flash in sky when blinking rapidly...Had perfect vision up to July 2012 when i started to use contact lenses..one day i looked at computer screen and couldnt read it? didnt think poppers was the problem...looked at bank statement and noticed i had bought poppers on 5 occasions in April May and June 2012 hence poppers must have contributed to it i thinks.

From Poppersdummy post, quote, "On the bottle there is a warning not to inhale. Maybe we should heed the warning." - It seems to me from some of these posts that the biggest problem with poppers for some people is mental retardation. Don't inhale poppers? So what do you suggest? Stick them up your arse? I know - perhaps they should put that warning on cigarettes to!

Has anyone recovered from anxiety ? Plz need help

To TheKnightWhoSaysNi: it may be reinforced by hypochondria, but still the sometime irreversible damage to your eyes is observable by specialists (see the medicinal reports mentioned above), there is some objective damage here, as well as for the lung issues.

I'll share my story as it could maybe help someone:

I have only used poppers since a few weeks, 1st time Sunday all great, 2nd time Monday all great, 3rd time Tuesday all great, 4th time Wednesday: couldn't breathe, like a really really strong cold, or asthma (I have no asthma otherwise, so I can't tell, but it must feel similar, your lung capacity is down at 10-20%...took like 4 days to fully recover).

Then the next week same procedure, except one day shorter, because the coughing and phlegm was way worse than the week before.

Next week, same procedure, one more day shorter (Only Sunday and Monday) to prevent the coughing and flegm. No issues except the tiredness.

I thought "Cool, I have found a viable trade-off"! Thus same procedure this Sunday, this time with a new brand (I only took Amsterdam in the past, tried Jungle Juice Platinum this time). I took 3 hits in one session, so not too much. Still I quickly noticed a yellow spot in the center of my vision, which took like 30mins to go away. Breathed immediately a lot of fresh air, got to bed early, in the morning it was gone. I couldn't help but to do another quick session in the morning, one single hit, the yellow sport reappeared again directly. Took longer to disappear, now it is gone (so several hours).

I consider myself as very lucky.

This could be because of Jungle Juice, or it could be because I am just on the threshold of damaging my eyes permanently. When some people tell that their eyesight got better after 4 months, that's like the minimum interval to use poppers, like 3 times per year. Considering the relapse risk, better not do those few times neither... Because it seems that one single use on a tired body or one single use of the false brand or one single heavy use and you have crossed the line, no going back!

This shit is the BREATH OF THE DEVIL.

Dark green leafy vegetables. Raw. Kale. Every day. Dont over do it ascan be hard on gut. I am 90% recovered from TERRIBLE DAMAGE. took almost a year to get here. ABSTINENCE.
Cant heal immediately after damage is done if still using.
Like running on a sprained ankle a day after the injury. Will become chronic.
I also recommend wheatgrass juice. And/ or juiceing in general raw vegetables
Daily. **DARK GREEN LEAFY VEGETABLES **
Better than supplements. Living enzymes. Targets eye health.
I have recovered 4-5 times since 2014. Every time my eyes have healed
They are the best now ever. You can heal.

I just wanted to post for everyone out there like me who’s been dealing with the horrible stress of poppers related vision loss that for me after about 4 weeks my vision has improved greatly, I’d guess by about 95%. At first I couldn’t read my phone and barely could read my computer screen, now I can do most functions although my vision still does not quite feel normal. I’m hopeful for even greater recovery over time, and hope everyone else in this situation finds some relief.

Grimmdaddy said on Sun, 24 Dec 2017 at 05:10...

Ok so I used poppers a 3-4 times per day, 4 days in a row. Would I have noticed any vision changes immediately? After reading the thread I am concerned. I feel exhausted, my sinuses are clogged up and my temples are tight. It has been about 3 days since my last use. I never used them before. The brand I used was jungle juice, black label. I forgot to mention I have a post nasal drip and weird taste in my mouth. It definitely messed with brain chemistry. I had the same feeling when I used mdma back in the day. It would be nice if someone followed up without making fun or a smart ass remark. I may have gotten lucky. Hopefully I’m ok.

Hi all, I am getting my friend to type this for me as I cannot see properly. This is very important to you all so read carefully. I have been a regular user of poppers for the last ten years upto a few months ago. I woke up one morning with the usual dull headache after having a heavy popper session the night before. This time was much different my eyes would not focus and my center vision was non existent. I’m now registered blind and cannot drive my car anymore I’m only 49 years old. So please please please, throw all your poppers away before you cause yourselves harm in your later years. Stay strong and healthy. Billy.

Does anyone have experience using only poppers that did not contain isopropyl? I was told by a chemist that isobutyl does not have any documented cases of eye problems, neither does amyl (or pentyl, which is the same according to him). I seem to have read other posts elsewhere (sorry, I cannot recall where, I'll have to go back and look) that claim poppers are harmless (probably excluding isopropyl). Maybe the truth lies somewhere in-between? I used them quite a lot many years ago, then not that often, have gotten to really like them again. This round, I've learned about isopropyl and threw out all the ones I bought that contained it. Fortunately, I hadn't used those much before discovering the problems with that chemical. I feel really bad for everyone who has had problems and still has problems. Government paranoia gave us isopropyl and lots of problems, it seems. In the end, I don't suppose that ingesting chemicals is a good thing, whatever kind. I would like poppers that are not isopropyl to be OK. At least I would like to know what risks they pose. Its pretty obvious from all the posts for folks who have suffered from what appears to be isopropyl that those poppers should not be made or sold, and that says something about our the sad state of society and lack of concern for others.

Hi all
My questions today is really something that I need answers for so here I go
My nephew was 31 years old and passed away last year in February. A bottle of equus black was found next to him. When he was found he was already unconscious but still had a pulse. At hospital they tried very hard to save him. But it was not to be. They reckon that he had no oxygen in his body. It was like it was drained from his blood.
He also turned yellow.
What a horrible death it had to be.
Is it possible that he was injected directly into the vein that help ended his life ?

Is there anyone that can shed some light on this. To us as his family who obviously had no knowledge of such drug it was and still is a terrible shock!

Do please...anyone who can assist with some info it will be appreciated

Surely some people are using poppers as a drug because of the high it puts you on anf not just for the sex

Juan said on Wed, 27 Feb 2019 at 00:04...

Hi, I think this is an ironical post because I think isobutyl is the one causing me headaches when inhaling poppers and also is not as potent as I thought since after two sessions the same day I don't feel anything. I have read a lot about poppers that's why I wanted to try isopropyl and yesterday I couldn't find any with that chemical in one store in NY, I will visit more sex shops and keep u up to date guys.
P.D.: Instead, I bought one that says it has alcohol, hcl, water and other as their ingredients, it has nice odor and smells good but don't feel the rush than with the isobutyl one so I'm gonna throw it right now.

I've been using poppers (isopropyl nitrate by perpol) at least 60-80 times a day for about a month and a half now I go through a whole 25ml bottle in 2-3 days. I have no eyesight issues whatsoever. however I do have a slight cough. I think poppers are the same as any other drug they affect everyone differently and unfortunate for some they end up with serious permanent health issues. A proper in depth study about poppers needs to be done because we do not truly the full long term effects. If a study where done poppers could be made alot safer.

hi all well well this is surprising have been using them for a few years now maybe twice a week my session may last an hour or more and sniff up to 25 times or more in one session have not found any probs so far

I've been using poppers randomly for a few years now. Maybe just once or twice a month. And I've seen the yellow circles after a session and they go away. Now that I read this I realize its slowly messing up my vision. I just used it heavily for about 2 hours of just takings sniffs and when I saw myself in the bathroom mirror my face was blue, my lips were blue, my nails were blue. I looked really bad. So I went online and found this post. I had no idea of the severity and the damage that this can do. I just threw my yellow Rush bottle in the trash and I recomend everything else does the same for your own good.

I been using akyl nitrates for about 5 days straight, every evening for about an hour or so straight. I haven't had any skin tone changes or look any different. I did feel like i couldn't breath a couple times while using them like i got stuffed up but i kept going anyways and it eventually cleared. for a coupe days i was coughing up black phlem, the shower was the bes way to get rid of it all.. But i've been feeling a burning feeling in my lungs and in my throat now for 5 days after i've used poppers.. I feel like i can breath fine and im not at all congested.. But my lungs have a tight and burning feeling in them ever since.. I'm hoping it goes away over time. I did get my poppers from a popper dealer in my city where many men use them.. But for some reason it seems like i have some sort of chemical burn in my throat and lungs.

It's been a few months now, congestion not so bad, cough is less and less, but the sinus is still congested. Will this ever pass? The cough and sinuses? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I've used on and off for the last 10 years and never had issues. Used what I'm now thinking of the new formula back in March and still have the cough. Last time I used was April 4.

I first tried poppers during sex with a guy that suggested we used them - this was about 2017 when i was 20. I took a couple of hits but I found it had no real effect. looking back i think they were old and had lost their strength.
I never really tried them again as I just thought that it was me and I wasn't susceptible to being able to feel the high from them.
Then at the beginning of 2020, I tried them again during sex and that time it was so intense. I finally felt the actual effects, and I was hooked, but I didn't go crazy - I did order 3 bottles of various brands as i figured since they will go off quickly once opened, it would be best to get a few bottles (plus 3 bottles were on discount), and I had a great time using them at the beginning of lockdown. (well, 2 at least, as I spilt the first one while putting it down after trying it for the first time lol).
since then, about 6 months ago, I had sex on poppers which was again great. the guy said I could keep the bottle and I again enjoyed using them by myself every night (for about 5 days) until the bottle stopped being strong.

At this point I did develop a cough, which eventually cleared after like 2-3 weeks.

I'm saying all of this to give a background into my use - I wouldn't say my use has been excessive, a handful of times in my life - with the first few not giving me any effect and pretty much gave up with them. only recently have i actually found them to work and have wanted to try them more regularly.

while using them that time 6 months ago, I had started to notice a yellow circle in the centre of my eyesight after finishing my session. I just put it down to a temporary lack of oxygen in my brain/eyes and "maybe thats just what poppers do when you take them" and I expected the yellow circle to just go away after a day or two at most, which luckily, it did.

I had NO IDEA at the time that isopropyl can damage your eyes and I was starting to see the effects of this!!!!

fast forward to last week and after 6 months of not using them, I decided to order some more poppers online - still believing them to be relatively harmless when used in moderation.

The poppers I received last week gave me no hit whatsoever apart from a slight head rush, but no intense sexual feeling. I gave up. I felt that maybe I had been sent a bottle from a dodgy batch and I put the bottle in the bin. Next time I felt like using them I opened a fresh bottle. It was slightly better but still not as amazing as I remembered from 6 months ago. Okay, maybe another dodgy bottle. I put it in the bin, and went straight to a 3rd. this one was much better, but still not as intense as I remembered.

I have now just been googling - have I done something to affect my sensitivity to them? maybe they're just all from a bad batch?

In this other thread I found (http://poppersguide.com/forum/11091) it seems that recently the bad isopropyl poppers are now even worse - poor quality chemicals since 2020, so even if you open a fresh bottle, they are so weak that its pointless. theres no hit. I was trying to take bigger and bigger hits to compensate for the lack of effect i was getting - and now I see yellow circles again and i'm worried about my eyesight! This really needs to be more widely talked about. It's so not worth it. now i've put them ALL in the bin and I really hope i'll never touch them again.
